Ingredients
Peanut oil, for frying 1 Box of mac and cheese prepared as normal, and stuck in fridge for the night. Remove from the fridge and form into shape of your choice. triangles seem to be the going thing, or circles, or squares. Flour, for dredging 1 egg, beaten Plain bread crumbs, for dredging Directions Heat 2 inches of oil in a large, heavy Dutch oven to 350 degrees F. Or you can use a cast iron skillet, or large frying pan if you dont have a cast iron one handy. Dredge each Cheesy Mac square in flour, then egg, and then bread crumbs to coat. Fry for about 1 minute on each side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels before serving |

I love homemade baked mac and cheese fried like this ... so very good. I noticed Arbys has mac&cheese bites now.

Good call on the peanut oil. That is THE best frying oil imo.
The only changes I would make is instead of plain breadcrumbs use Panko, which is a rougher japanese bread crumb, it gives it a much nicer texture. And second I would add some finely chopped smoked ham to the Mac & Cheese before chilling it. Good stuff |

The only changes I would make is instead of plain breadcrumbs use Panko, which is a rougher japanese bread crumb, it gives it a much nicer texture. And second I would add some finely chopped smoked ham to the Mac & Cheese before chilling it. Good stuff Good call on the panko, but it's not always available everywhere and it is pricey, compared to plain old breadcrumbs. But, yeah, it's a great thing |
