Topic: *THIS* is why Ron Paul is a Republican! | |
---|---|
There IS a difference between Republicans and Democrats.
Maybe not between the party leadership. Maybe not between their congressional leadership. Certainly not between their presidential administrations and (God help us!) Obama and McCain. But there IS a difference between the GOP and Democrat rank-and-file; and it is reflected in the philosophy and behavior of their elected congressmen. The $700 Billion sell-out of America should have sailed through the House and Senate. After all, it was proposed by a "Republican" administration and the Democrats who (for all their posturing about not rewarding the corporate executives) can't wait to endorse this great leap toward national socialism. So what is the hang up? The REPUBLICANS in the House of Representatives just can't get behind this atrocity. They are getting emails and cards and phone calls from their REPUBLICAN constituents opposing the legislation -- and they are listening. Will they eventually cave in? Probably. But that is because we have not strengthened their numbers with enough truly enlightened patriots. And if it had not been for them, this whole thing would have gone through without so much as a speed bump. That is why Ron Paul is a Republican. That is why this is the party we must work with. God bless the GOP as the last, best hope for America and the constitution! Bring on 2010! http://www.dailypaul.com/node/64295 -------------------------------------------------- I agree with some of this, but I still think it's high time that we have a majority of Congress/Senate and yes, even maybe the President, that aren't duopoly. |

Ron Paul: Don't Ask for a Bailout
September 26, 2008 12:42 PM ET | Kimberly Palmer So, have you made up your mind yet? Americans are apparently divided on whether or not to support the financial bailout. Poll findings have been inconsistent, with USA Today reporting that almost 80 percent want the bailout and the CBS Evening News saying only 16 percent of Americans think it's a good idea and more than 1 in 3 thinks it's a bad idea. Judging from yesterday's comments, most Alpha Consumer readers come down firmly against it. I asked Rep. Ron Paul, the Texas Republican who was one of the first people to speak out against the bailout because it conflicts with his small-government beliefs, what the plan would mean for consumers who are struggling with foreclosures, credit card debt, and other financial stresses. (Some versions of the proposal include provisions to aid such borrowers.) He told me: "If they've spent more money than they've had and can't pay their bills, they have to either quit spending and work hard to pay off the debt, or, if [necessary], file for bankruptcy. But they shouldn't ask other people, who may be poor themselves and just barely making it [for help.] If you ask taxpayers to do it, someone else gets stuck with the bill. Someone else always has to pay the price. This idea that there are no victims, that's a fallacy." Do you agree? http://www.usnews.com/blogs/alpha-consumer/2008/9/26/ron-paul-dont-ask-for-a-bailout.html Before you answer, check this out: Peter Schiff appeared on Fox News’ “Bulls and Bears” on December 16, 2006 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoB4BS7CGAw and this nocashfortrash.org STOP the taxpayer-funded bailouts Have fun! |

Well actually REPS dont want the govt. taking it over...they would rather have some insurance backed private program that these companies would have to pay.
They don't want to socialize the bailout...or take over of these assets. |

They don't want to socialize the bailout...or take over of these assets. Which is why I find it so strange that all the presidents that have done things to bring us closet and closer to an Orwellian society have been Republicans. For a party that was supposed to stand for smaller government and local control, the memebers of this party are the ones that want to control peoples lives, peoples belief systems, and keep taking more and more control and freedoms from people. |

This event has shown you the difference between the NeoCons and real Conservatives, unless it's just political posturing and time will tell on that one. |
