If you have the installation disc that came with your camera, then use that. Run the installation again.

If not: You need to know the exact name of the driver that you need first. When you get the error message that tells you you need a driver, it will PROBABLY give you the name of the driver you need ("file (name of driver) not found"). You may have to run your hardware installation wizard to find the name of the driver, though.

Then do a search for that driver, like on Google or something. There will be sites where you can download a driver for your hardware.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you do not have good antispyware/antivirus on your computer, or if your antivirus is outdated, best not to go downloading anything.

But if your antivirus is up to date and functioning well, then let the good times roll. yours in Chaos,Scarlett

The stupid thing is, I've had this cam for a long time, but never bothered to reinstall it when my computer crashed a year ago. Now I have (and I used the installation disc) but my computer doesn't seem to recognize it.

I'll try it again a different way. But I doubt I'll make progress.

It says a specific file on windows xp home edition disc 2 is needed.

Who the hell optimized software to need a completely different disc anyway???

Obviously, I don't have windows xp home edition disc 2.

Am I now fracked??

As far as driver information, I have the exact name of the software, but when I do a search on it, it always leads me to places that require payment. Oh what a shocker.

do a google search with the exact name followed with +driver +(your operating system)

it should bring up a sight to get them

if not remove one of the +os and try again

if you have a sight on listed on the product info it may have a driver om said site

if when your comp crashed you downgraded to vista from xp it may not have a driver available
