Topic: What does"Country First" mean? | |

To me, it sounds like a cheap way of saying, if you don't agree with the way I think the country should be served then blah blah blah

I think it is a way of saying "I am more patriotic than you."

They said "Country First" and sent 57,000 Americans to their deaths in Viet Nam.
Then said, oops, we probably shouldn't have gone there. |

"Country First" should mean:
I am a Constitutionist. I believe that "We the People" have the say-so and I will carry out the desires of the people according to the U.S. Constitution. This entails less envolvement of the Federal Government, returning the government to the individual states. |

it's SUPPOSED to mean putting the country before partisan politics
but that'll never happen in these threads |

They said "Country First" and sent 57,000 Americans to their deaths in Viet Nam. Then said, oops, we probably shouldn't have gone there. I think back then there were VERY SIMILAR sayings: "My Country, Right or Wrong!" "America, Love it or Leave it!" Today that has morphed to "Country First!" |

it's SUPPOSED to mean putting the country before partisan politics but that'll never happen in these threads ...or in Washington DC in 2008 |
