I know that warmachine has posted a lot about writing in votes for Ron Paul. I think a lot of people are against this because they think they are wasting a vote.
Lets take me for example. I am a republican in a blue state. There is no way New York is going red. Even though we have more red counties than blue, Manhattan, NYC, and Long Island are all blue and that is where most of the population is. Since there is no way red will win, there is no reason why anyone who is republican should fear voting write in. That is why I think that if you are in a state that is dominate on either side and you are part of the opposing party, than seriously consider writing in someone that you think is truly qualified. I still dont think the write ins will win, but if enough people in these states do this I think we will send a major message not only to the government but also to the people. |

Electronic voting machines... they have anticipated you and closed that gate... Kinda hard to write in on an electronic ballot with no paper and no input device other then 'CHECK HERE'. |

Thats when you challenge the constitutionality of the electronic machines. I'd written repeatedly to Brownback and Tiahart when I lived in KS,that these boxs are easily hacked and will be used to stifle the 1st amendment.
I'll be doing it again if I find out they use them here in CO. Blackboxvoting.org tears the corrupt election machines a new one. |

Also, the laws for write ins are different all over the country, different from state to state. Some states, regardless of the number of write ins, lump them all into a category called "other" Now it would make the establishment sit up and take notice if 40% of the national vote went for "other", but some states don't even give you the option of write in. This is one of my hot button topics, because Stalin said that it matters not who votes, but who counts the vote. (paraphrased) If you are concerned about the integrity of your vote and want to vote for whomever you feel would be the best person for the job, then yea, I'd start making contact with my representatives. |

I got in some trouble once because I was so upset at the choices I wrote in 'NONE OF THE ABOVE' Also, the laws for write ins are different all over the country, different from state to state. The people who cast the votes don't decide an election, the people who count the votes do.

I am not ashamed to say it. I live in Michigan and I voted for Ron Paul in the primaries.
I like many of his positions in regards to the role of the federal government, abolishing the Federal Reserve and the Department of Education. I like the attention he brought to the constitution. I think he may be a tad too isolationist for me. We tried that before WWI and well the result...but then again the balance of power is different now. Once more...let's not wait till an election year (presidential I mean) and ask people to consider 3rd or 4th party choices. Start giving people choices now locally so alternate parties don't seem and are not a wasted vote. |
