My exterior hard Toughened, refined as the sea of life rolls over me I peek out beneath my shell slowly I allow the vast ocean to invade and fill my void Opening and closing to sort through all that is thrown my way in waves My love flowing fathoms deep Filtering I find nourishment in all that surrounds me I am but one clam in the sea of life Both closed and open Hard and soft Taking in the world around me 9-21-08 SDF
