Time for Positive.... "The word 'Christian' means different things to different people. To one person it means a stiff, upright, inflexible way of life, colorless and unbending. To another it means a risky, surprised-filled adventure, lived tiptoe at the edge of expectation...If we get our information from the biblical material, there is no doubt that the Christian life is a dancing, leaping, daring life." Enjoy the dance! Believe as you Wish And Let us do the same!!!!!!!! One night our town put on a street dance in honor of a local resident who had died. They had a band and many people were gathered. I was dancing, and a few other people were dancing. I had no partner, I just got out there and danced. My friend, a Pastor from the Church of God was there and I tried to get him to dance with me. He wanted to, but he was stifled because he worried what people "might think." He felt some silly obligation to play the roll of a dignified restrained man of God as is expected. He said to me one day that he "envied me" because he thought I was the most "free" person he had ever met "because I didn't care what people thought" I just lived my life the way I chose and had fun at it. That shows me that very few Christians, especially so-called "men of God" really know how to cut loose and be themselves and have fun. They would like to, but there are these little rules and regulations and expectations that keep popping up that they have to consider. What would people think if the Pastor danced with me at a street dance. I was the tarot card reader who must certainly be dancing with the devil. He was afraid to "associate" with me or to dance at a street dance. And after all, he was a married man. So I know many Christians "have fun" and say that they "have fun" but the bottom line is the young adults just want to party, drink booze and get laid. But of course that is not allowed, as well it shouldn't be for teens even if you aren't a young Christian teen. Still, that is what they want, so they will sneak around and sneak out and do it behind their parents back. Don't kid yourself about Christian events for teens.. we know what they want, or most of them... the opposite sex.

I have been telling this to Christians all my life, but many feel it is their duty to "spread the word" and "save souls" so they just don't listen. I wish every Christian would do this. Believe as they wish and let others do the same!!!! Great idea!

We have a church in our town that does that speaking in tongues stuff and they are really tight with the Southern Baptist church here. Very fundamental and a bit odd. Truly I would be a little afraid to even walk into their church. The pastor is very rude.

Abra, if evolution is correct, and it's been going on for so long, why do we not see all the various parts of it in existence now, there would be a half man half monkey somewhere don't you think.

The theory of evolution has been substantiated and continues to expand upon itself.Sure it has some gaps but it also has a great deal of credible physical evidence to support it. What does Creationism have exactly? Oh thats right, only the word of the bible. That is why it is considered a mythological account of a people by modern day cultural anthropologists. It is not to go out of their way to insult feralcat lady as much as you enjoy taking offense and personalizing it as some manifestation of attack. Trust me,. all they are worried about is where next years research grant is coming from. Been there, done that.

I agree! My grampa was like that. I never once got annoyed with him talking about god, because he never pushed it on me. I think most of us just get pissy when we hear about how many people 'stood in your way' to being saved, and how many people downed your religion. Mainly because i've never heard of a pagan, a buddahist, a toaist, confusionist or a shintoist ever try to convert or convince someone there was is the only right way. It's not really exclusive to christians, cause muslems and jews are notorious for doing the same thing in differnt ways. I think believing in something is whats important. If we all could actually get past the wanting to always be right, and the power of our religions, we would be a happier world. For power is always only an illusion. |

Christians hate it when it's refered to as christian mythology -Joseph Cambel. The descriptive term "mythological" implies it is fictitious. I would assume that is the real point of contention. However, any creation mythology found throughout the world is no more or less credible. I do personally reject the premise that any belief in an invisible man/ woman/ deity/ animal is more realistic or reliable than the next. |

What exactly would be so discomforting to you about the idea that you diverged from "pan" chimpanzee a little under 6 million years ago? Is it because it nullifies the belief that you were created as a superior being in the image of god? That you as homo sapien sapien were granted the divine right to manipulate, pacify, control and eventually destroy your earth because it was indeed intended for you and you alone? Is that the real issue here? Is the entire premise just too untidy and scary? |

True love would have the courage to face any wrath incurred by disagreeing and questioning another's (especially one close to them) staunch belief system(s). This is why we all interact… To spur one another's growth! It ain't always pretty.
