now that's a damn fine patriotic bear. You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time. Abraham Lincoln ...unless, of course you are a neo-con... |

I'm not going to lie...I was all for McCain just because I didn't like Obama, and wasn't aware of the advantages of not voting for either of them. But this thread really got me thinking. Humm...

Everyone has a right to vote for whom ever they want. Have voted a few third parties. With the awareness that third parties rarely - if ever win. Got to check that one. Unfortunately, they more often skew the results in unfavorable - or favorable ways. Depending upon other's points of view. It's important to remember that if you vote for a third party candidate, you could swing the vote away from the candidate of the two parties that you LEAST dislike, therefore the candidate you MOST dislike could then become President by default. Of course if you see no difference at all, then it wouldn't matter. Although, in all likelihood, your candidate wouldn't win anyway. Mnhiker, Why do you think that in all likelihood, the candidate wouldn't win anyway? If my memory is correct, didn't Bush get in office the first time because the Dems lost votes when some people voted for a third party? |

Ok, someone correct me if i am wrong, but i thought the electoral votes are the ones that actually get a president into office... I didn't think popular votes actuallly did anything except give publicity to a particular party... Didn't Bush win one of his elections that way?

Bush stole the first election thanks to his "family" ties in Florida where the electoral votes were in question giving way to the whole "chad" maddness that ensued. Gore won the popular vote but lost his right to the presidency because your spineless congress, refused to do the right thing and hold another election... however...its not who casts the votes..its who counts the votes that matters... Actually what sucked was the fact that Bush was put into office again...one really wonders at how gullible Americans can be, I was there for the whole Kerry/Bush battle of the candidates and was flabbergasted by the mud slinging and even more blown away by the fact that Americans bought the package hook line and sinker....
Now Im sitting back and watching the circus event all over again...no one really cares about issues, but boy-howdy do you all stand up and pay attention when a candidates dirty laundry gets aired out..... THAT SUCKS...especially for us in the rest of the world.... |

J. Stalin So that was a "yes" then.... BTW i wouldn't call congress "spinless" I believe they got what most of them wanted... The level of corruption in our government isn't just the big bad right wing, and the left wing leaders not standing up to them. What's scary is the dem and repub leaders actually agree with eachother in all major catagories. There is a comittee in place to make sure of this. They don't want publicity to reach any candidate who brings up big issues like foriegn policy, the real economic issues, civil liberties, etc. They get everyone side tracked on smaller issues. The oil crisis is a problem, but it is caused by economical problems, which are in turn caused by the FED printing money and government overspending with it. Obama wants to pull troops out of Iraq, but he will reinforce afganistan with them, and he is seriously looking into attacking pakistan, and seding aid to the georgians. Does that sound like a "change" in foriegn policy? Nope... Anyhow, you vote dem or repub, that means you like where we are headed, plain and simple. Both sides want a bigger government, and more government control. Both sides support increased taxes, government overspending, and an aggressive foreign policy consisting on nation building and expansion. While everyone is focusing on health care, we will slowly be losing our rights to speak freely, and own guns. Get rid of those two bills, and you can say goodbye to the constitution... |

Only few people care about issues, and many, many fewer actually care about the REAL issues. |

Very nice to hear. Do your own research, then decide. This isn't the best place for research. There are "LIB" Obama supporters like me, those who support John McCain, and many considering independent candidates. Take anything you read here with not just a grain, but a full shaker of salt! |
