Lost Innocence
Somewhere there's a wanderer, An exile from this place, Once a mighty ruler, That took his fall from grace. Lost within the mired swap, A rusted sword lays dying, Wielded once by mighty hand, Now, alas, there's no more knighting. The sky now marked and scarred by gray And the land now darken laid. The trees once praised for beauty, Are now twisted and decayed. The silver light that gleamed, Now hidden in the clouds. The moon remembers well, The joyous, festive crowds. This exile bears no memory And hasn't seen the harm, For he no longer knows This land he made with charm. The castle walls now cracked with age As they settle into dust. The flag is all but tattered And torn by violent gust. Ghosts now haunt the hall, Once brilliant in it's day. Now standing quiet in the shadows, This dark and placid place. Where once the minds of youth Created what they may, Now forgotten by the many That gave this land a name. The bearers of this land Once vowed to always stay, One by one they vanished And this land was soon depraved. Fadedspirit 9/15/2008 |
