I was just wondering if any other religions besides the Judea-Christian partake in foot washings. I think they are just awesome.

I was attending a Seventh day advent Church; I had brought a lady to her church because I was her home health aid.

Several members went to the back room to wash each other's feet. I had never heard of such an activity being done at a church and I was a bit surprised by it to say the least. It seemed a little strange to me to do among strangers, I did not know the people well. I did not partake in the ritual.

But I do love foot massages.

Once I gave a foot massage to a guy on our first date and he really loved it. I think he was a bit surprised by it.

Wow. I didn't know you did home health care JB. I was watching a show on television and they were saying that it is good to pull the toes. I guess it is a form of ROM. We have to do ROM at the nursing home. From walking the concrete floors it is my arches that I have trouble with. I have read where some people can read a person's feet like some people read palms. I think a good foot massage is like a spiritual thing the way it can make you feel better. Personally I would rather go to a foot washing meeting than to a snake handlers' convention. They would probably have to change the water often for my feet.laugh I bet some people specialize in foot massage.

Yes there is an art of foot massage. People have it done because it helps pain located in the entire body. This is because all of your nerve endings go to the feet. A foot massage is healing technique.

Thanks, I think I will give my dad a foot massage. He has been having lot of pain lately. He has artheritus really bad.

I was a nurse aid for three years, and now I am taking care of my parents. They are in their late 80's.

........and the truth of all hearts is seen with the eyes, that were once veiled with illusions of once demons and devils, and all bless and wash the feet that walked the path each their neighbor, those nasty smelling paths feet walked, where truths were as evils, what walked as uprights spewed cursings, all turned to disbelief of what was sacred, turned now to evil, and evil turned to sacred, and what was up with man, was down with god, so get down get down and boogie, for the fear of the grim reaper as god, and the fear of the grim reaper as satan, is disolved into thin air, the truths hidden since the beginning, creating an ending for a beginning, and the bliss is light, overshadowing every tear shed into joy, the knowing is amazement, the roles of the players, each as an expert, the great drama displayed, all taking a bow, the completion of the living drama, all pain overcome with gasps and smiles, there is fear no more, seperation by the veil removed, plain site hidden revealed, and all is good and sweet, and satisfaction is one every lip, and mouths praise what was once evil, feet that walked opposite's, that afforded all living experience, due in full for bliss..........peace

Thier are alot of groups that do this. I do not believe it is something new to the NT. I believe it was lost or just stopped by the High Priest somewhere. If you look at Abraham and Lot they did this as a custom. Yahshua kept refering to about it was not so in the beginning refering to customs like this one being stopped and the way hand washings were being done and as is refered to above taking care of your parents in thier old age. It even speaks of the widow or the widow indeed. It talks about a widow was to be taken care of by her family if not then whoever actually was thier duty to make sure she had what she needed. All these thing being done away and the priests adding what they wanted. This is what is so misunderstood About the cammandments that was against us. The commandments of men not Yahweh. yet the commandments of men override the commandments of Yahweh way more than was happening then ..shalom...Miles

I would soak them in a bath of hot soapy water for about an hour, towel them dry and rub lotion on them with a light spray of grapefruit seed extract water, massaging the foot and toes in a slow circular movement.

Some say its better than sex, but that depends on how old and tired you are. laugh

As a child I attended a "Primitive Baptist" church that did foot washing. They also didn't belive in having musical instruments in the church. Needless to say it was best to carefully pick who you shared a hymnal with.

laugh Sounded like a bunch of dogs howling if ya weren't careful who you sat by. Best part of the whole day was 'dinner on the grounds' after the service.
Those lil old southern ladies might have needed singing lessons but they sure could cook.
