I get to start telecommuting tomorrow!
Anyone have any suggestions on staying focused and working steadily from home without going crazy or getting distracted???

It can be hard at first, but you just have to get your mind set to the idea that you are at work, even though you are at home. If you have kids running around, it is harder, of course.

I got to where I could be on the computer typing with the TV on in the background and still do my job, but some people need quiet.

Congratulations on getting to work from home, look at the money you will be saving in the commute to and from work, a real plus.

I'm lucky, my daughter is grown up so the house is quiet. Just afraid I may go stir crazy in my "office" area! Only get to do it twice a week but really looking forward to it!!

I have always heard that if you dress as if you are actually "going" to work...it helps...and maybe some soft music in the background...

I did better telecommuting when I set up an "office" in my basement. I had a laptop and wireless internet, so I could actually work from anywhere in the house, but I was more focused when I was in "my office". Glad to see you're only doing it a few times a week. I did it full time for over a year and it got to me only having interaction with other people over the phone.

It does take a little more discipline to get everything done while working at home, but it's completely possible. I work at home probably 3 days a week now. I could all the time if I wanted to, but I like going into the office at least a little bit during the week.

I have an office for when I work at home. It does help a lot.

I work for a global telecommunications company. I believe most people are able to telecommute.

I worked for a computer consulting company. I would assume that most jobs that are done primarily on the computer or phone would be able to be done at home.
