Topic: I Think a Part Of Me Just Died | |

Two weeks without a computer would do me some good. Maybe I'd go out and find a girlfriend instead of posting to a message board... |

I remember last time I went without my computer for 2 weeks, I really did almost die lol. Well long story ,lets just say ,right after I bought it I had to move out of town and I just gave up on trying to get it fixed or taken in for another. |

The important thing here is that there are some lessons to be learned- - keep up-to-date backups of your information, so can refer back to them in the event of a system crash or malware infection. - always have anti-virus/spyware/malware measures present in your computer, as they'll be your first line of defense when the malware comes to attack. - be careful of where you surf when online. most sites are legit and are free of spyware, while others are chocked full of crap courtesy of 14 year-old script kiddies. - if you're sending your computer to get fixed, be sure you don't have any nude pictures of yourself on your hard drive, as you might get a wee bit of a surprise in the future. I hear that Avira Anti-Vir Personal Edition is pretty good too, and it's free. The only problem with it is that it sorta nags you to buy it's full-on version while you're downloading updates and stuff. Comodo also has a free anti-virus program too, which is just about to get up to version 3.0. Stay away from the v2.0 of their anti-virus though, as people have been having problems with it as of late- get the 3.0 instead. |
