Younger kids (13+) REALLY get on my nerves they just dont get much of anything if it doesn't involve them! when emotions run high i get really anxious we're not sure why, they say its part of my disability but i think they're on crack anywayyy this mornings been hard well duh and my little sister turns to me and says, "it has nothing to do with you you didn't even know anyone who died, why are you so upset?" it really steamed me because she didnt seem to understand that we don't always have to know someone involved for it to affect us. I tried to explain it to her then realized she completely tuned me out ugh it frustrates me okay rant's over have a good day everybody

they dont know the true nastiness of the world and how it will affect them yet. its best to let them keep the blinders on for a while. just remeber, it wasent that long ago that you were the same way.

you cant blame someone for their upbringing, its the parents fault not the kids.

Ah children, they can be so selfish and self-centered sometimes. In many cases, they don't grow out of it as they get older either.

thats extremely true josh. kids dont stop to think what it does to their parents when they dont get their way and they start showing their ass. but its alot of the parents fault. they let them get away with doing that. not all, but alot.

Smurfy, go ahead and be mad and frustrated. Those are your feelings and you can't do anything about how you feel.

Then, once you are okay with the feelings, working them out is fine.
Posting in this thread is healthy, but you may not get the responses you need or desire. Ranting, writing, etc are good for you. Just realize that once it's out here, you will get rhetoric from others, like me here!!!

It's okay to feel the feelings, then express them in a way that's safe for you and those with whom you are upset. Pillow punching or voodoo dolls, ranting or yelling in a safe place, journaling work well.

You can't control them or their feelings.

I agree, my parents never let me get away with certain attitudes without at least a good talking to. (it usually resulted in more sever punishment.)

They even had a system where if I lied to try to keep them from finding out about something and they found out, I'd actually get 5 times the punishment I normally would have because of lying about it too.

I'm not sure, but I think that might be how I picked up this honesty thing I do.

(((((((((Nicki))))))))))

I feel your pain, being that I have a 13 year old son, as you know. The only thing you can do is remind yourself that they really are young and they don't get it, yet! They will realize soon enough the world does not revolve around them. Being that age is hard, they go through so much change so quickly that they do tend to focus only on themselves. Good thing is, most of them learn from it and grow to be good, kind, unselfish and loving people. We were all there once, a little empathy goes a loooooong way toward resolving things. flowerforyou

Love ya, my lil sis
