Topic: A Son Departs | |

He packs his bags
He's about to fly Off with his dreams The visions he holds high He's now eighteen Wants to succeed At being the best he can Yet it's a tough scene A mother's tears Creeps from her eyes She wishes him well He says it's not goodbye He'll be back one day He'll come again Memories come to mind She remembers way back when As a little boy Who flew all through her house A young man who played drums Was never quiet as a mouse A huge "Hey Mom" Echoed her ears She whispered "quiet please" Now she's fighting back the tears The house grows quiet As he departs With him he'll always have A part of his mother's heart She runs into her office Looks to watch him go He's been the biggest blessing Among all she'll ever know His funny smile Comedian of the crowd His big bear hugs His voice strong and loud Her whiney baby Now becomes a man She wishes him well One day he'll understand A mother's love Never quite ends She's going to miss her son She sends a kiss until then ****************** This is for my son who came home last night from his father's house and said he was leaving home. Child number three and it doesn't seem to get any easier. They sure grow up quick! |
