Federal legislation that put some limits on the purchasing of handguns wasn't a liberal effort to take guns away from people. Know the facts!

The Brady Bill, (H.R.1025*Title: To provide for a waiting period before the purchase of a handgun, and for the establishment of a national instant criminal background check system to be contacted by firearms dealers before the transfer of any firearm)arose out the attempted assassination of a republican president. The legislation was the baby of Sarah Brady after her husbands life was forever altered when a mentally ill man was allowed to buy a gun. It is important to note the Mr. Brady was a republican and was in the employ of a republican president. The bill had 155 cosponsors from both parties and the voting in the senate was not strictly along party lines.

Some democrats voted for the bill and some did not. The republicans in the senate did not all vote against the measure.

could be. were on the edge of a precipice thanks to the oil companies and bush cheney. wouldnt take much more for it to go downhill real fast, and the army wouldnt be able ot react before it was too late i dont think either. but who knows?
