Why dont you run for senator, governor or mayor? You would have to have the money and the backing to start with.

You cannot tell me that your average Joe is able to get into big time politics with no money.

Look at Clinton ... she ran out of campaign funds and so "lent" herself $5million.

Could you or I do that? I dont think so.

We would never be able to. Plus I have an OWI on my record so I think that would disquallify me. Or boost me making me look like a more average person. Oh wait I am an average person, Thats wy I cant

Money talks and unfortunately we all have to listen to it.

At the moment the money that is talking is black and liquid and it runs our cars and trucks!

Sadly, until this becomes a worthless commodity, it will have a big say in running the US/UK/Europe
It will never become worthless to many things we use day to day need it not just our cars a lot of things you would never think of.But I do believe we need alternate sources overall but we should drill here and keep the profits here.

I think it's pretty ironic that the same people who made 'swiftboating' a household word and who cast John Kerry as nothing but a gigolo in '04 are now crying foul.

I agree about it not being totally worthless, but if we found an alternative method of powering our internal combustion engines, then the price would come down, as we wouldnt need it.

I dont know enough about your drilling issues to make a comment, but it is a depletable resource and maybe one oil company should take the lead and find an alternative.

McCain's stance on oil is untenable. He will never be able to end oil imports totally.
Not even the US has that much oil, does it?

They say we have enough to lessen it significantly but if all they say is will take to long for it to produce . That was the same thing they said in Bush 1, and Clinton. I wonder how things would be if we would have started drilling then

They may have been waiting to try and find a cheaper way of getting it out.

Its a mighty expensive and environmentally damaging process.

Is any prez going to take the gamble and get booted out after 4 years for being environmentally raping the country?

TJN,

Who do you think said this about whom and when?

"Having a wife who provides you with a private jet and eight multimillion-dollar vacation homes provides for a comfortable life. But is this the right preparation for becoming president?”

Phoenix New Times, March 25, 1999 --

Two former POWs, Air Force Colonels Ted Guy and Gordon "Swede" Larson, said in a feature article that while they could not guarantee that McCain was not physically harmed, they doubted it. Both Guy and Larson were senior ranking officers (SRO's) in McCain's POW camp at a time he claims he was in solitary confinement and being tortured.
Larson told the New Times, "Between the two of us, it's our belief, and to the best of our knowledge, that no prisoner was beaten or harmed physically in that camp [known as 'The Plantation'].
"My only contention with the McCain deal is that while he was at The Plantation, to the best of my knowledge and Ted's knowledge, he was not physically abused in any way. No one was in that camp. It was the camp that people were released from."

McCain is no demon and Obama is no saint.
It's not about who is more real or elegant.
Change is going to happen one way or the
other. Now who will be best able to deal
best with our many challenging problems?

Obama is not as vacuous as intimated and
McCain is not as petrified as suggested.

Biden is accomplished and experienced.
Salin is smart and capable.

Let's find out what they are really going to
do and how they are really going to do it.

Let's insist that they tell us now.
Then, vote.

Wrong answer. It was published in '04 about John Kerry:

“Having a wife who provides you with a private jet and eight multimillion-dollar vacation homes provides for a comfortable life. But is this the right preparation for becoming president?” - Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, World Net Daily

Here's a few more:

* “If his own wife doesn’t trust him with her money, why should we trust him with ours? Teresa Heinz Kerry is not sure about her husband’s character. Are you?” “He’s always had a net underneath him throughout his political career — in his case a net woven of homespun 24K gold.” - Joseph Farah, World Net Daily (with the headline “President Gigolo?”)

* “He’s basically a skirt-chaser, folks. He’s a gigolo.” “Kerry never had to worry about the money he earned, the taxes he paid, or the programs he and Ted Kennedy forced the rest of us to pay for. … Mr. Kerry Heinz is not effected [sic] when these neighborhoods are destroyed and working class families lose the largest asset in their retirement plans — their home’s value.” - Rush Limbaugh

* “John Kerry can’t really speak to the middle class tax cuts, inasmuch as he is a kept man. He lives off the money made by other men and left to their daughters or wives.” - Ann Coulter (in her book, she refers to Kerry as a “gigolo, the male Anna Nicole Smith”)

* “If John Kerry wins in November, he will be the premiere president of this great country of ours to be also a gigolo. The dictionary defines ‘gigolo’ as a man supported by a woman in return for his sexual attentions and companionship. It might sound rough for John Kerry, but it’s right to the point.” - Taki Theodoracopulos, American Conservative

So please be a little considerate of the situation before you make such a harsh statement about someone lying about something like that.

I agree that McCain's POW experience should be off the table from criticism. However, it's McCain and his campaign that plays the POW card every time tough issues come up. For example, when he didn't know how many houses he had, his campaign responded that for 5 1/2 years he didn't have a house. As long as they keep using it for a shield, it's fair game.

If it should be off the table from criticism, it should be off the table for reasons why he should be elected as President.

But it wont be.

He is being portrayed a hero, when in reality he is a standard guy who has enough money to have a run at the big chair.

He has money but he isnt using his money for the campain.

Yes that is a sad fact. The more money you have the better your chances of being elected. grumble
