The CNN people are so hyped-up between the Republican Convention and the hurricane. About an hour ago one CNN guy made the announcement that McCain and his Running Water were visiting the Mississippi Gulf Coast today to survey the preparations. That's about the funniest thing I've heard in the last decade.

This is starting to look ugly.
Looks like a direct hit on New Orleans coming up |

Dubya and D!ck Cheney are also using Gustav as an excuse to not attend the RNC this week. Evidently they need to stay totally focused on the welfare of the Gulf Coast just like they were for Katrina. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that their absence is great news for the McCain campaign who need to distance themselves far, far away from this failed administration.

Maybe the people of New Orleans will finally take the hint from the weather. It's time to turn the area back to wetlands as it was intended.

yup. and my bro is in the National Guard and he might be going to Louisiana when it hits.
*sigh* there goes our trip to Galveston tomorrow :( |

it is not good. losing some GOP coverage is a slight bonus...
i don't like political conventions. the DNC fest was equally disgusting and vacuous. it shouldn't take a natural disaster to streamline these yahoo-blowouts. this is a very bad storm at a very bad location and at a very bad time. i wish that the awesome power of Gustav dissipates without further decimating New Orleans or the surrounding areas just recovering from Katrina...or I should say struggling to do so... |

Yeah, I've lived there, most of my family is resting there in Hope Mausoleum. I just hope that those of you in Grand Isle; go! I don't care if the English sent your ancestors there down the Missippi to the Gulf of Mexico 300 hundred years ago. I'll really miss those funny accents. Get the hell off that sandbar, PLEASE.

McCain if half dead and dull why didn't the party just go w/ Bob Dole! The elections are over the Dem's won congrats |

Which part do you find funny, the politicalization of other's suffering, or the fact that they are trying to get everyone to leave the area and he is going there! I chose the later.
PS My brother is a 30 resident of New Orleans ST. Bernard Parish. It's his home and the home of his family. It's easy to say "just leave and don't return". His wife is buried there. She died shortly after Katrina. He had a mandatory evacuation by 4 pm...yesterday. And McCain wants to survey the preparations! |

Nobelman, you got me all wrong, bro. My laugh was at the CNN guy who got Running Mate and Running Water confused 'cause he's probably exhausted. Please don't get me going on N.O. I come from a long line of Montagnet's. Capbern's, La Branche's, Briant's, Masson's, Lanaux's, Reynanaud's, Bertel's, and Helen Renolds (wherever she came from). So don't speaketh unless your name ends with a "UX." I'm a Texan now, thank God.

That's as partisan a statement as ever. Distancing themselves? I don't think so. If W wasn't paying attention you would be screaming about what a mean rotten uncaring person he was. So please stop talking with both sides of the mouth. It's hypocritical as well as very partisan to make such comments. |

Yeah, this is not the time to be mean. Really, there's no time to be mean.

I'm female. |
