Topic: Hillary Clinton's speech tonight | |
---|---|
Brilliant. An excerpt:
"This is the story of America. Of women and men who defy the odds and never give up. How do we give this country back to them? By following the example of a brave New Yorker , a woman who risked her life to shepherd slaves along the Underground Railroad. And on that path to freedom, Harriett Tubman had one piece of advice. If you hear the dogs, keep going. If you see the torches in the woods, keep going. If they're shouting after you, keep going. Don't ever stop. Keep going. If you want a taste of freedom, keep going. Even in the darkest of moments, ordinary Americans have found the faith to keep going. I've seen it in you. I've seen it in our teachers and firefighters, nurses and police officers, small business owners and union workers, the men and women of our military - you always keep going. We are Americans. We're not big on quitting. But remember, before we can keep going, we have to get going by electing Barack Obama president. We don't have a moment to lose or a vote to spare. Nothing less than the fate of our nation and the future of our children hang in the balance." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080827/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_clinton_text_1;_ylt=AlNXX0cHNxGzdT6YBivs8RRh24cA |

Please...she did not even attack McCain....she had the prime opportunity to do so and she failed....... She was 'stuck' on Hillary....she did not come out and encourage the dems to unite and back obama like she should have....unless you want to call those few little dribbles 'uniting'......she was/is 'STUCK ON HILLARY, AND HILLARY IS STUCK ON HER....(SELF)' LINDYY |

LMFAO yea, after she wait in the effin line, her chemo had done expired. Why so serious? Agree or not, the speech was excellent, as was Michelle Obama's last night. However, seeing Bill Clinton mouthing "I love you" when he obviously knew the camera was on him was nauseating. |

Well gee Bill and Hilary together despite hardships from within and without their marriage. Isn't that the sort of family values, family first stuff the religious right preaches?
I know we've seen more than one philandering republicans marriage end over the years. Maybe that's another aspect of the Clintons they really can't stand. They weathered the storms and stayed together. Her speech was excellent just as a piece of oratory. She did an great job of connecting with the crowd. Her enthusiasm and her desire to unite the party seemed genuine. Her speech wasn't overly long and it was spirited keeping the crowd involved. As an American and a woman I was happy to hear her well chosen quote by Harriet Tubman. One that has inspired me in past when life seemed difficult. I didn't vote for either Clinton or Obama in the primaries but as I said before unless something significant changes I will vote a straight ticket in November, something I have never done in the past. |

Hillary said what needed to be said a did a good job. The party will unify. I agree. Hated to see her not win the nomination in the first place but she is a great woman with a good man behind her even if he dallied around. |
