How likely are you to respond to, or start a conversation with, someone who does not have picture posted.

nope...need a pic

Not so much, but maybe...

Not likely.
I will if I read the profile and they have something interesting to say. Normally, though, I tend to think that they are probably hiding something. |

I've done it but was very reluctant. I eventualy met her and we have become friends. Usualy I move on though if they don't post a picture.

So far I'm with the majority...I won't usually..if they initiate and can send a pic that's ok.....but I'm wondering, does that make me a shallow person? Relying on looks for the first impression???

nope...need a pic did u ever find me on myspace? |

not in the least.
i look at it this way- i, as have other members of this site, have spent the time and effort putting up pics in their profiles, for whatever reason they have. it would be disrespectful to join a site such as mingle2 and NOT post pics when the vast majority of members have. not only that, NOT posting pics makes me think the person in question has something to hide, which is not a good thing when looking for perspective dates. |

Agree, first thing that comes to my mind is "MARRIED"... |

I won't initiate the conversation. Depending on what they say I might respond.

Beachballs are in now, blue or black boxes
are so ole' school. I talk to anyone. Got to know some pretty nice blue boxes- that actually became pics at a later date in time. Some are still blue! Blues Hot! To each their own! Weather you be a beachball, a smurf, or a darkster... |

If they have something interesting to say and share your interests there is no harm in asking them to talk, after all they just maybe shy or insecure with there own looks.A pic or lack of one isnt a reason to pass by someone who maybe special in your life down the road at some point, the shy ones tend to be the most interesting,if shyness is there reason for no pic...or maybe they just dont have the means to post one.Either way,its not good to jus pass on someone for a pic,cuz then your jus using standards instead of opening to a new person..

Honestly ( and this will probably get me into trouble ) I think in a way it IS shallow, but I also know that we are a visually based society. The thing is, if you rely completely on seeing a picture before you respond, without using what they have to say as part of the basis, then you may just be passing by someone who is only " kinda " good looking, but would be better to you than anyone you have ever known. |
