don't get me started on the girl who wanted the sage rock... and insisted I was wrong in saying that one didn't exsist. I could get her loose sage, bundled sage, sage incense or sage oil, but no sage rock.
She then told me she saw demons in her house and would burn the rock to get rid of them... My tongue almost bleed trying to bite it from saying "Are you sure you're not talking about crack" but I refrained. She then asked where the Mexican jumping beans were... I sent her to the Ethnic market next door. |

The girls on Charmed are hot I want my own coven if they're in it.

hehehe, my friend owns an occult shop and one day I was there and this girl walks in and asks... "do you have THE book of shadows" My friend was on the phone with this guy who ordres hundreds of dollars of oils from her, so I was helping customers. I asked "who's book of shadows are you looking for?" She said "THE book of shadows." I showed her blank ones that my friends husband had made out of wood and parchment paper, and are absolutely gorgeous. The girl says "No THE book of shadows." I explained that almost every author has their own, and she needed to be more specific as to what she wanted. she walked around the store for a minute and then said "THIS book of shadows" and pointed to a binder with page protectors in it with silly little spells taken off of the internet and printed on pretty paper... and asked if it was for sale, by this time my friend was off the phone and told the girl "yes, $1.50 a page just like it says" I can't stand newbies who watched one too many episodes of Charmed... I don't get it. I bought the BOS from the show Charmed. That's how I know I'm a witch. |

The girls on Charmed are hot I want my own coven if they're in it. That seems to very often be a stereotype of those involved in Wicca, Witchcraft or a Pagan form of spirituality in some respect. That they are all "hotties" and practice ritualistic sex. It is true that sex is quite instrumental in many of these forms of worship as that was part of Christianity's problem with early Pagan religions, however, it really gets pushed over the top. Pagans look like anyone else, ugly, fat, attractive, pretty. Be reasonable. That would be the same of me claiming that all Christians are prudish and unattractive. Clearly not the case. Its a segment of the population. |

Of course the dominant themes in films involving Wicca or Witchcraft is that of the typical scary, evil, destructive capabilities that surround these religions and are often misunderstood. I dont blame Hollywood or screen writers necessarily because from their perspective, those are the kinds of interpretations that will put the asses of moviegoers in theater seats. |

I don't know much about Wicca but I respect those that do
I was raised as a preacher's kid so that I'm so firmly entrenched in John Wesley's brand of Methodism that I have to view everything in that framework. I have been studying Tarot since the 80's however. But I view it as a tool given to me by God to aid in introspection and guidance I have to admit that the tetragramation stuff gives me a headache though |

People's backgrounds are going to effect how they view new concepts and ideas. Its kind of like looking through sunglasses. Our views and perceptions will be distorted by what we already understand to be reality. Thats human nature and very difficult if not impossible to get away from. I would hope in the very least you would learn that Wicca does not entertain the notion of a "devil" or Satan" as personified evil. It is kind of ironic as very often these religions are accused of being "devil worshipers" or having some sort of familiarity with Satan. That concept does not even exist in Wicca. |

I view the concept of a devil more like the card describes it. being overly caught up in destructive material desires

I know absolutely nothing about Wicca (or even if that is the correct term to use in this context). Is there some place on the web where one could get an overview of the basic beliefs and practices (from the viewpoint of the practitioners, not the detractors)? Thanks.

Yes that is why i said "personified evil" as it is viewed in Christianity for all intensive purposes. Such of an evil being or "Satan". Nonexistent in Wicca. So there is apparently a lot of projection of fear taking place and proliferation of this erroneous concept made by uninformed folks.

hahaha everybody seems to have to have somebody to burn at the stake, or feed to the lions, or decapitate on video

Sky you want to ask Ruth when she is back on. In fact if you go back to page one of this thread she did in fact list several good websites but I cant remember what they are now. If you do a search for "Wicca" a TON of websites will come up of course but some are better than others. You probably would want to look up Witchcraft as well because the two are separate though many who are practicing Wiccans also are Witches and some that are Witches are not involved in Wicca. There are distinctions between the two. |
