I heard about this a while ago and thought it was a joke.

This is one description of the game, which is played online:

"Miss Bimbo's" users -- who are primarily teenagers but are as young 8 -- create virtual characters known as bimbos, dress them, groom them and can even navigate them right onto a plastic surgeon's operating table.


Is this good or bad for body image?
Or is it just a game for young girls to play online?
Would you let your daughter play online?

I'm curious to see what people think about this.

I think it is a sad display of how shallow the World in general has become in regards to self image. We will never be perfect. People may be beautiful on the outside and the most ugly heart and yet, the average people if given the chance, may show you a heart and an inner beauty...

As a mother of a 22 yr old I would not think this was a good idea. We need to teach the young girls today that no matter what body style they have the should love themself for who they are not how big or small they are. Keeping in shape is important but a girls self esteem is more important.

It's not much different from playing with Barbie dolls...maybe a little, but still.

This whole societal obsession with body size/shape is harmful to all of us.

Why the name Miss Bimbo's? Just the image of that makes me

i think its a horrible idea. the only thing that can cultivate is low self image and people with the need to hack other people to pieces..ugh

It's a huge challenge in raising girls nowadays. I have 4 and 6 year old girls. I would never let them play that game and I am already starting to talk with them about what is beautiful and just being healthy. Girls in elementary school are being diagnosed with eating disorders and it scares me to death.

Girls and women's self esteem issues are so big in this country that the Dove body soap corp has set up self esteem workshops all around the US to help girls regain their self esteem

I would NEVER allow my daughter (if I had one) or any young girl I knew (to the extent I had any control over it) to play such a game. This is the kind of thing that tells girls we are not ok how we are, no matter how that is!

My niece was diagnosed with anorexia at 9!!!!!!!! She eventually turned to drugs in her depression over her body image and overdosed in February.

This kind of thing is NOT ok.

and they are already body conscious

The media, the movie stars, and models are all very thin. Being overweight can be hazzardous to your health and being to thin also can be. Girls need to learn to be happy with what you have

I have seen those and I think they are so great!!! They put out a video you could watch where you saw the original picture of the model and right before your eyes how she was transformed with digital technology into the picture they put in the magazine. I also try and support those magazines that use plus size models. They show that women are beautiful regardless of size.

thank you! Funny thing is, she was never even remotely close to being overweight. But the words of her parents, her family and friends could not outweigh the images she was bombarded with everywhere she turned.

My personal opinion is that those videos need to be a required watch in every elementary school, middle school, jr high school, high school school and college in this country.
