relationships are broken because we are too "self-important". if we find that we are no longer as important and our values are threatened we fight for it or walk out to find that value or importance somewhere else.
we all need to feel important and valued but alot of people see themselves as too much important and too valued and cannot tolerate anything else so they leave their partners or their partners leave them. (i borrowed this idea from someone) but it makes sense. what do you say? |

Too many times we go into relationships and become indian givers because it's not what we want....a choice we should have made before we went into the relationship |

I can see how that's true in a lot of relationships.

i agree we all need to feel important and valued for a relationship to work.....
I don't agree with the too important/valued scenario......I just think most people don't really know what they want or need in a relationship.....sometimes its easier to run and hide behind our 'busy' lives, then put ourselves out there....maybe a little scary, ya think? |

Self importance= superiority complex
The person from whom you got this information has got it extremely close and it's MAJOR. There's more to it than that, but what that friend says is at the crux of a large part of it. Of course, there are neanderthalic miscreants who have no clue to what is alluded here in your statement. |

It is term dealing with traders who dealt with native american tribes..they promised somethng then took it back...In relationships people do this all the time. In marriage they vow before God to do things as long as they both shall live then divorce. What then is their promise to God worth? what is an indian giver? (i borrowed this idea from someone) but it makes sense. what do you say? I prefer the Triangle Theory of Love. If one or more element is missing the love can only go so far. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triangular_theory_of_love There are three elements to love: Intimacy, Passion and Commitment. The three elements combine into different forms of love. Going in and out of the 3 elements is what causes the end or start of a particular type of love. There is nonlove, liking/friendship, infatuated love, empty love, romantic love, companionate love, fatuous love, and the ultimate - consummate love. Why does love stop? A lack of passion, intimacy or commitment. |

I'd say that works some of the time .. but when a relationship is broken due to trust, and misuse of drugs AND cheating .. then NO. Especially if you have children you are protecting from someone's drug abuse & subsequent dangerous behavior. Bottom line: nothing is a 100% answer for anything in life |
