Regrets

Have you ever loved
And made a bond so strong,
Your life was but a shadow
Then everything went wrong?

Have you ever listened
With the ears of heart,
As the golden glow of whispers
Had faded into dark?

Have you seen the eyes
That lit up like the sun,
Only then to realize
It was just in fun?

Have you ever loved
With every fiber of your soul,
And lost the one you loved
Though they didn't know?

Have you ever felt
The stinging of the tears,
Searing streams of loss
Ignored by darkest fears?

Have you felt the torture
Endured each day by day,
Living in a limbo
When your penance comes to play?

Each thing in life is counted
Whether be it good or bad
A test that some have failed
Making many others sad.

Though losses come in rain
And pain may come in scores,
Listen to my heart
A wisdom the world ignores.

Life is just a breath away
Like a shadow on the wall,
Live it like you've breathed your last
And be not fearful of the fall.
