Topic: While away at an internship | |
---|---|
Hey everybody,
Here's a little dilemma I've been presented with: There's a girl at my university that I like, who has become single again over the summer. I would very much like to make a move, but right now I'm several hundred miles away at an internship, and will be for the rest of the year. I'm looking for suggestions on what to do in the meantime to increase my chances when I get back for the spring semester. I'm already working on losing weight and learning the harmonica, but I'm afraid that she might not still be available by the time I get the chance to ask her out. I was thinking of trying the secret admirer angle, but a thread search showed that most girls find it creepy; however, I might be able to get her friend in on it to vouch for me. Any suggestions? |

How about..start off by sending her an email? Create a friendship first with her

The friend angle sounds good. Do something soon though before its to late. Keep up the self improvement even if she says no.

What does a harmonaca have to do with it ?

DON'T !!!!! Go through her friend, other than to get her email. I have never seen that work, and have seen it many times.
DON'T !!!!! Delay taking action. A message not sent has lost many battles. DON'T !!!!! Rely on harmonica skills....LOL.. Just had to throw that in. |

What does a harmonaca have to do with it ? I'm just saying that I'm learning an instrument. Chicks dig musical guys, right? ;-) |

"Chicks dig dudes". I would not think a harmonica would work too well but if it gives you self-confidence then go for it.
How did you find out about her break-up? Is she aware that you learned about it? If yes, then that is your chisel so-to-speak. Talk to her and ask her how it is going. Ask about if she misses the guy. Ask if she has found anyone else. Tell her you are interested in her. If you get affirmatives along the way things will be working for you. If not then you are not wasting your time wishing for something that will not come true. OR You can just be silent and wait until next spring and then see where you stand/ask her out. How long was she with this other guy? She may need sometime to get her head together again. I think your being a friend to her now and offering her someone to talk to will pay off in the end. It's your call though. |

I definitely dig harmonicas.
And the friend route definitely works, just be ready for some weirdness when you try to make the jump to. . .whatever your ultimate goal is. |

being a friend would probably be a good idea.

The harmonica? I agree that is creepy. Still there is one woman here who liked it so we are wrong. Harmonicas are IN!

haha, it's not my favorite instrument by any means. but it reminds me of bob dylan. and that's a good thing.

Creepy? No. A harmonica, an instrument you play that involves wrapping your lips around it......got to lead to interesting ideas.....and places...... HEHE.
Just ask her if she is interested in going out when you get done with your internship. If she just broke up, that should give her a bit of a break from relationships to get over it. And keep the conversation going so she is more interested by the time you get back. |
