I work at a circle k. Recently we had a mystery shopper come in and of course i got saddled with ringing him up (not knowing at the time) that he was indeed the guy to impress. We did pretty well scored an 80 which in their terms is a fail (93 is passing) and while most of the marks against us were because of things in the store that werent "fixed" he made a remark about me looking "unkempt" and said that "because of my facial piercings and extreme hair color i lacked a look of proffesionalism"....................................................................What i find interesting about the entire situation is that in a case study workers at gas stations and convenience stores only share a window of 45 seconds with their customers. Apparently to sweep, mop, stock, clean bathrooms, pump gas, and count money you have too look professional lol.

Workin for the man sucks!

amen to that lol i just find it funny that their opinion of my looks should matter. now maybe if i had smelled or had been dirty looked like i was on crack had track marks or visible signs of drug or alcohol abuse i could understand...but saying my facial piercings make me unprofessional when i work at circle k is like saying george bush has to be smart to be president

My daughter learned this lesson too this summer. Her hair was dyed 3 colors, with a mohawk. When that is up it rocks. However to get her summer job back she had to dye it one color and pin it back.
Anyway without those 45 seconds with the customer, you don't have to worry about the sweeping, mopping, and stocking.

i understand that they bring in our money but their opinion of what i look like shouldnt matter...and i dont see it stopping them from buying a coke from me or asking me to fill their cars with gas lol

Alot of people are afraid of clowns....maybe thats what the secret customer was tryingto tell you.
