If the #2 pencil is the most popular, why is it still #2? ![]() ![]() The number found on a pencil relates the hardness of the lead inside of it. The only thing I wonder about is why women haven't yet used this same number system on men! |

phrases today ![]() If you'd really like to know, graphite pencils are "labled" according to their hardness or softness.... from 9B (hardest) to 9H (softest), HB is the medium softness and a 2H is a little bit softer than HB and is the most popular because it's easily visible and easily erased. And also most computer grading machines read them best. Anyways, they're generally called #2 and are the most readily available with erasers. |
