A spark is all it takes
The first snap and crack And flames emerge Popping and snapping Licking and tasting Engulfing and consuming Red, yellow and orange Blue, green and white Colors dance among the wood Flames grow higher and higher Smoke rising, billowing out in soft clouds Touching the night sky and catching in the wind Scenting the air for miles and miles And the embers glow softly, gently now as the fire dies down Winking here and there, softly popping and snapping And she sits staring, waiting for answers to come Drifting through her thoughts, warmed by the fire Her eyes slowly close, her breathing slows Even and gentle, curled on her side Eyes fluttering every now and then In the dream state she is now in Answers sought after now become As she wipes away drool with her thumb |
