People don't like to admit that they have been stay too close to the fork and too far away from the treadmill....lol Well that was rude Some people may have medical issues causing the weight gain.. I'll admit that's NOT my issue.. my issue for my weight gain is stress, I'm a stress eater.. and I've had a LOT of stress this past year, does that mean I like where I'm at, No.. it doesn't.. but fat OR skinny I'm still the same person.. closed minded people just don't get that. I've always liked the saying: I can lose weight, but you can't change your personality! |

I really have no problem with overweight folks or what terms they would like to use to describe themselves. Male or female, it’s their prerogative. That is a choice that they have decided to make in regards to how they want to present themselves to the world, or dating scene, whatever the case may be.
My only concern for the people in my life that I have more intimate contact with is that being overweight, or obese, can lead to all kinds of health issues and problems. Some are not quick fixes either and can pave the road to chronic conditions. |

OR you can have a chronic condition that cuases the weight gain, like hypothyroidism.

I do use the term "BBW" to describe myself sometimes....and sometimes I don't. I don't think it really matters. I am big, I'm sure someone considers me beautiful , and I am a woman. So the term accurately describes me...lol. But I have no trouble admitting that I am fat...I just don't like using the word because I heard it too much growing up and I've heard it more than enough over the last year from my soon to be ex. But, I, too, like some others on here am trying to work on that, but I also let people know in my profile that I will never be the skinny little cheerleader type. I will probably always be fat...I just hope within the next year to be a little less so

Why can't women just say they are fat instead of coming up with some label to hide behind.I'm fat and when you see me its obvious there is junk in the trunk so why do people fear a mere three letter word? Why does it bother you how others refer to themselves? |

Fat,bbw,overweight...doesn't make a difference what label is used. The people that matter most to me see beyond the physical and well..the opinions of others don't matter...to me anyway.

Hen I in NO WAY attacked overweight people. I in fact was showing concern for those close in my life that might choose to be heavy of their own accord. I worry about them. Type 2 diabetes, arthritis, heart and cardio vascular problems are ALL associated with obesity. Generally the longer someone is overweight; the more physical issues can develop. I was attempting to convey my concerns and worry. Sorry if you misinterpreted that.

Did I ever make the claim they did not? However if you add obesity into the mix, you have dramatically increased your chances of acquiring a weight related condition. There is no need for the overweight folks to take a defensive stance. Especially when it is something that more than likley is in your control to change or at least improve upon. If the doctor told you that you were borderline Type 2, would you just blow it off?

Do you take a detailed health history of every woman you date to make sure there are no diseases lurking in her background? |

I am female! I never once said ANYTHING hostile or rude towards anyone on this thread! I never once directed my comments towards females. I said "overweight people". I’m reporting you to a mod because your reading comprehension skills are sorely lacking. Do not reply to me.

This is a sensitive subject and I think people tend to judge the overweight more severely than, say, the too thin. Obesity is a terrible thing to stuggle with, and if it were so easy to overcome, there would be no overweight people in this world.
Sorry if I offended anyone with my opinions. |

I think because it has been used in such a negative way, and has cause a lot of people pain, they would rather no be called fat. For some people it would be like using the N word

I think everyone is entitled to an opinion and we need to remember that it is just their opinion. We have the right to express it, whether you hurt someone's feelings is really up to that person for allowing the comment to get to them.
No one's opinion is more important to me than my own. No matter what anyone says that is the opinion that counts. |

Fair enough. You didn’t offend me but you directed your comments at me and clearly did not comprehend what I was attempting to convey to you. I was on your side. I never made any rude or judgmental comments about anyone. It was a case of running off at the mouth. Anyway, I’m not reporting it as it doesn’t rise to that level but for next time, look at a person's profile before jumping to conclusions like that.

I am oversensitive on some subjects and that is my problem. I had no right to get snippy with you. |
