How do you define a good friend?

Someone that always has your back, even when you are clearly wrong?

Or,

Someone that will be there for you when you really need them, but also will give it to you straight when you are wrong?


I think the later denotes more of what a TRUE friend really is...the first more or less describes an asskisser and asskissers generally have some agenda other than just being a friend.

I'm with you on this one. Someone that is loyal and true and there for me but not afraid to put me in my place or call me out should the need arise.

I agree with ya. Friends are true when they tell you when you are wrong, and always give you their opinion even if it doesn't go along with yours. My true friends are this way, and that is why they always manage to last longer than fake ass friends.

Someone who has my back when I'm wrong, and then hits me in the head for making them have my back even when I was wrong.

Loyalty is HIGHLY important to me, those in my inner circle have proved their loyalty to me, and I to them.

I was at a party at my friends lake on Saturday, and someone said something in jest about me, and my friends spoke up and said "Say what you will, but when push comes to shove that girl has been there for me when no one else has been."

My "crew" is the best bunch of people I have ever met in my life, I love everyone of them, flaws and all. I know they feel the same about me.

...and Goof is expansion crew... he's one of the best people I have ever met.

*supportive but doesn't necessarily rescue

*always wants what is best for you!

I will say this. A true friend, when your life is in shambles, will be their for you. Always.

I think a good friend should also be loyal. But, not so much they become a co-dependant. I guess this is where we define loyalty

Very true... someone who has your back, when they see that you need it, not just because they wanna be in the midst of it.

I dated someone recently for a short time, and my best friend (a guy) hated him, but didn't say anything until I asked him... then he told me, but he let me do what I wanted. Now however, he is fully expressive about the guy.

But you know when I think you are wrong, I tell ya...But,I don't stop loving you as a friend/lover when I do so.

a good friend you can perty much find very easy, but a true friend takes some time to find and to hold............once you have that, you have a person with you for life.............

And I am wrong pretty often.......lol but hey I own up to it....eventually!

Someone said to me once, and I agree... It's easy to be someone's friend when their life is tough, it's harder to be their friend when they just won the lottery.
