If I 'WAS' a significant other I would certainly NOT be flirting with anyone else, and I would expect such attention and energies to be likewise directed at me.

That is not to say you can't admire or look at someone who is attractive- that is human nature, but I think, flirting is something different.

It's the degree of it that matters- I can't imagine anyone of either gender not responding to flirtation from someone they considered attractive. It's human nature to want to be desirable. How far you take it and how it affects your significant other -those are what can create problems.

If they are an outgoing, friendly person in general, who 'flirts' with most women - probably not a big deal. If he's flirting consistently with just one person in particular - um, yeah - a red flag is going to go up pretty quickly in my mind!
