What problems did you encounter with your own children when you had a
girlfriend or new wife and how did you handle it?

mine were resentful to her, and still have hate for me, even though
their mom was the one to start cheating on me, and they were the ones
that told me about her doing it, but yet they still love her very much
and her new b/f... go figure

I don'nt know where to start. i thought we would be devorced the first
year. thay where verry jelus and hated her. at first thay liked her. the
more serious we got the worst thay got good luck.

Before I had a child, I had an dog that insisted on my being alone, he
was much too possessive and jealous to tolerate seeing me with a man.
Unfortunately my beloved dog passed away. Soon after I gave birth to a
beautiful baby boy, I believe a direct reincarnation of my dog.
Needless to say I've been alone ever since.

I swear true story!

children have an inherent desire to keep the original family together,
just about at all costs.

No bad experiences yet. Although, I don't date that often. Actually my
daughter is trying to hook me up with all of her friend's mothers. She
wants me to find someone. She's so sweet.

My granddaughter made my son-in-law's life miserable, but I guess his
girlfriend did the same to her to start with.

Thats EXACTLY what we're going through. Mikes girls loved me and
treated me with respect and just recently, there's been no visits from
them and they have an excuse everytime he calls them to see them. Then
today we ran into one of his daughters with his ex wife and I knew right
away there was a change, his daughter didn't say one word to me and his
ex never made eye contact with me. Mike and I have no idea why, after
all this time of not having any conflicts or anything, they turned on
him, obviously because of me. I have never treated their mother with
anything but respect because I have children of my own too and want to
be treated with respect from whomever my ex husband is with. Well,
thank you for the responces, we really appreciate the input. I suppose
this is just a normal responce from children in some cases.

Anymore comments or advice? I thought about writing a letter to mom and
daughters, not real sure what I'd say, don't even know if thats the
right thing to do. I just hate seeing such a great dad lose his, what
was once a fantastic relationship with his girls. I know it's not due
to the baby, no one knows yet. I just don't know, I wish I did, so we
could fix it. Communication is so important in any kind of
relationship, I just don't know what to do with them and his ex wife.
Oh, well, there's probably nothing I can do but ride the ride. Thanks

Chuckee, it's normal for those feelings with the children and with the
ex..
but is very difficult when we have step kids, first because there is
another parent who may feel jealous if the child loves you a lot, and
will try to make you look bad, just because she doesn't want her
daughter to love you more then her, or even a little.
I know how kool you are, and if it was me, I sure would be jealous not
of the man but of my girl.. see mothers are strict and Im sure you are
lots of fun with her, so do you see my point chuckee?
maybe that is the case, it happened to my sister and other friend as
well, the woman was jealous of the kid and pined her against my sister
so she wouldn't loose her love to my sister.
