"Bias source," Lets think for our selves and not be led like sheep,
nobody said isolationism, and noone said dont stand up for ourself, but attacking Iraq had nothing to do with the war on terrorism. Attacking Iraq was just playground bullying. Lets lead but lead in the right direction. I dont remember who, but Some one else said, That instilling fear, or intimadation in another person never gains respect. They may fear you and show subserviance, but they will hate you in the process. That is not respect!! |

FANTA46,
Sometimes it is best to endorse someone else's balanced and wise position, and pass your turn in voicing your own opinion. (Especially when you're Canadian, and the topic is the US position on Iraq) FANTA46 , I have read each one of your entries in this posting with great interest. It appears to me that a very wise soul is wispering loudly just below your thoughtful and balanced words. Winning at all cost, as some would claim, is unfortunately a folkloric 'John Wayne' mirage. Made for great movies, but has nothing to do with reality. Real winning is founded on the wisdom to 'AVOID ENGAGING IN LOSING BATTLES' !!! Any military strategists who's been there, would approve I'm sure. When you deal with real breathing human lives, you only owe them NOT to engage in losing battles. This is the thought that kept popping up as I read your entries FANTA46. As for the rhetoric that would have you beleive that 'LOSING BATTLES, ...CAN BE WON!!! (winning at all cost), well it's no better and no worse than the 'TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE' rhetoric. Keep trusting that soul of yours FANTA46!!! |

Voleazur, I have two questions for you. 1. How did Canada get
independence from England? Did you fight like we did, or did you pay money to them? 2. Dose Canada vote for their leaders. |

Well 'MysteriousMAN', We fought like hell (our forefathers that is),
... but contrary to the US independence movement, the foundation of this country was based on Monarchists and Loyalists resisting the US Independence in order to remain in a British Colony. Before your independence (1776), QUÉBEC was a FRENCH Colony. It was conquered by the British following the infamous Battle of the Plains of Abraham (1759). Had your independence movement occurred a few years prior, we might have all been US citizens. But since this conquest took place at a time where your Independence movement was brewing and just starting, ... your independence was ironically made possible with the incredible support of the French (remember Lafayette and cohorts?), ... all 'loyal' british subject whom wanted nothing to do with being independent from Britain, worked their way NORTH to this brand new BRITISH COLONY. What followed were several decades of battles against independent US's attempts at conquering the new Province of Québec. So YES WE FOUGHT, but not for independence. To this day, in spite of the Constitution Act of 1867 (The British North American Act), and the patriation (brought back) of our Constitution from England (1982), and while the Government of Canada is fully sovereign in governing itself as an independent country, it is still Her Excellency the Right Honourable Governor General (Royal Representative of the British Monarch) that is Commander-in-Chief of Canada and official executor of all its laws (we have a parlementary system of government (like Great Britain), unlike you, or the French whom have a republican system). So de-facto independent yes, ... but hanging on to old vestiges of the past!!! (which is a major piece of contention with Québec since the beginning, and a whole other story: Québec Independence Movement from Canada, much like yours more than 200 years ago. As for your other question, I'm certain you already knew the answer, ... but since you asked: CANADA is a democracy, where free elections are held for every levels of government. Remember MysteriousMAN, we all have a 'fighting' past!!! The question tat reamains, is what should we really FIGHT FOR!?!?! If tell me, to preserve our democratic and human rights and freedoms, I'll say GREAT. If you tell me, FOR ANOTHER BARREL OF OIL, I'll say our SUV's are not worth HUMAN LIVES!!! |

Pulling out would be a disaster. Think about it. And as far as the
"PEOPLE" are concerned, there are many who askew the liberal press. They(the press)are the ones sticking destructive stuff in the heads of people who don't know much. There are many who wish we could get out, but still support the war! Don't fool yourselves. It's not quite as esay as saying "OK, come on home." The new Dem. congress knows this, or they'd have done something conclusive by now. MM |

All of this has little to do with a barrel of oil. We have long know
that the Mid-East was a hot bed of terrorist. We got tired of having our buildings blown up. It was very disrutive to say the least. It's got to stop. What better place to start than Iraq and Afganistan. Their legit governments WANT us there. They need us there not only to protect the people's rights, but for world business interests as well. I only wish Pakistan would ask for help. But they haven't, so we stay out of their business. Oh I wish I could go! And I mean it. |

Sushi, you should read my complacency draft, that is what is wrong with
the policies of this country now. People either wont say anything, and run around thinking that they cant make a difference, or dont even bother to learn the facts. They just assume and repeat propaganda, or follow the ppl in gov like a bunch of sheep. Then they complain about the way things are. I myself do more than just post notes on JSH, and I take time to learn more about a presidential candidant than just their name. or their sex. We are a gov of the ppl, we can make a difference. this I believe.. |
