Do you think financial statues and the ability to handle money well play a big roll in who you or others choose as a partner?

Financial status... not too much as long as my partner is contributing to the household..
ability to handle money, yes that is important. However, when you enter into a relationship it is important to discuss those matters. The number one reason for divorce is financial matters and another important matter that influences divorce is division of labor... who will do what chores within the home/yard etc. Relationships need good communication. And if both of you communication about financial matters and spending and bills etc... things should go smoothly. |

Alas, it is true that people base their love interest decisions too many times on the contents of one's wallet or bank account when it should be based on the contents of their heart. I would much rather be poor and in love than rich and lonely!

A woman's financial status has never affected my choice in who I date. I don't really think that my status affected the women who dated me, either. Curiously though, women I have met have told me to be wary of women looking only for money. Either I have never run into them or I'm too naive to notice them when I do.

Yeah well, as much as I would like to agree that good communication is the best thing for a relationship, I tried that with my last boyfriend and everytime I tried to talk to him he would just act like he didn't care and that he had no thought on the matter. |

If this is a relationship that may lead to marriage, then you need to be on the same page together when it comes to spending and saving habits.
Financial stress is one of the leading causes of breakups between a man and a woman. If you cannot accomodate each other on this point then you need to either change your habits or move onto another relationship because this one is eventually going to breakup. |

I'm not one to expect a high earner, but I do expect that the man have a grip on his finances and spending. My ex-husband was not good with finances at all. Not what led to our ultimate failure, but it surely was a bad situation and made things worse.

Do you think financial statues and the ability to handle money well play a big roll in who you or others choose as a partner? Absolutely . Money is happiness . Money is life . How sad but true..........I work for a bank so my partner always expected me to handle everything and pull it out my a$$ when we are short. But I guess that is why I never married and I am a single mom now. |
