Heres the thing, haven't you ever went out with someone and thought...oh he was nice but then the more you thought about it, the less you liked him? No-one really owes anyone any reasons why they don't want to date you again. Sure, it is a respect issue BUT he didn't owe you any thing. You went out and then he "thought" he seen your add on Craigs list...IF it is on Craigs list, that right would be a very big turn off for me. I would never responde to anyone that had anything to do with Craigs List, but thats just me!!
I would say just pick yourself up and move on. In life you are going to find many people that "boggle" your mind!! He just happens to be one of them!

K dont listen to these guys..............look I have to tell you that some guys think that they are ready for a girl and then they dont know what to do with them...........its really simple start trying to get to know yourself and then you will know what type of man you want...........i say this because when you dont know what you want you start attracting all types of weirdos.......as women we have to start acting like the men...........meaning me off the bat know if they are attracted to you and if they want to sleep with you.......for women we like to be attracted but we also get our emotions involved too quickly instead of taking the time to really see the true person...........

It sounds like the guy was honorable, honest and respectful. He was just a decided not to go out with you anymore. I guess he could be considered a coward if you knew he made his choice before you asked him, but with the two emails it sounds like he made his choice after the 2nd email.
