I agree with you DD! I often think about Neuro tube defect like spina bif or downs. My mother was I think 38-39 when she had me. I'm afraid of the risk but yet it's so hard to let the dream of having a child go.

at what age should you stop having kids?

36-37

my fiance is 38....so are you saying that we shouldn't have kids together when we get married next month

They have tests now to test for Downs and cerebral palsy carriers and other deformities too, much different than years ago. It is harder for older women to get pregnant though as their eggs do degrade as Destiny said, but it is not uncommon. I know of a 40 y/o having her first child. Personal choice I guess.

They can also pick up lots of problems on ultrasounds now, and some can be fixed before birth. I am sure you have seen some of this on TV.

I used to work with a young woman who had a son and a younger brother who were the same age. I'm thinking that's a little Jerry Springer for me........
