smells awful. I have a well but this smell I'm getting is not sulfur....it is sooo much worse....could it be from the water heater?

I don't think I can even describe it correctly...it has a chemical type smell. I have a water softener too, and it's full of salt.

I just had the same thing happen to me. Yes, with well water that has a lot of iron in it, the
element needs to be replaced. Its not the heating element its in their for well water. It wasn't very costly, but they had to flush the heater out
because sedement builds up on the bottom of the tank. I think it costs $130 total.
