The non-existence of time
What is time? It is a measurement of bodies moving through space. Time cannot exist without the concept of space and movement through it. Therefore, if we, as spiritual beings exist outside of space time, then we live in the eternal now. We exist in infinity. In a space time world an event involves movement and change. What would constitute an event in infinity? What exists in non-space time worlds or spirit worlds? Any ideas? JB |

is a component of a measuring system used to sequence events, to compare the durations of events and the intervals between them, AND to quantify the motions of objects.
Its not just the movement of objects. |

Pure Thought I like that. |

is a component of a measuring system used to sequence events, to compare the durations of events and the intervals between them, AND to quantify the motions of objects. Its not just the movement of objects. I did not say it was "just the movement of objects." I said, "It is a measurement of bodies moving through space." ("Duration" is a matter of time as in "how long did it take to get from here to over there..") So time is relative to other moving bodies in space. One day equals one complete rotation of the earth. One year equals one trip of the earth moving around the sun. One day divided up into hours, minutes, seconds, can be tracked by the movement of the hands of a clock. But that was not the question I asked. JB |

time does not exist as a reality but as a mental tool that is used to measure reality by those that are under the jurisdiction of the laws of physics ...Time is actually a crude way to count, predict and/or calculate the outcome of a reality created by those laws
therefore Time does not apply to those that can either alter the laws of physics or those not governed by those laws |

'TIME" is a four letter word, tsk, tsk, tsk!!
One that should not be brought up on a family forum such as here!! - what will the kids think keep your subject matter appropriate dammit. |

What is time? It is a measurement of bodies moving through space. That's a flawed definition. Time is a single dimension in our universe. If an object is stationary, it is still moving through time. Time fourth dimension: the fourth coordinate that is required (along with three spatial dimensions) to specify a physical event |

Without the need for something or someone to perceive what is called time, time does not exist. It is only a perceived "tool" nothing more. |

If we assume something with height or width is the first dimension, something with height and width is the second dimension, something with height, width and depth is the third dimension and something with height, width, depth and duration (time) is the fourth dimension. Then if you start with four dimensions and go back a dimension you start with reality as we think we know it or existence. If you remove time you have a three D picture. If you remove depth you have a two D picture If you remove height or depth you have a line and if you remove them all you have nothingness.

Time fourth dimension: the fourth coordinate that is required (along with three spatial dimensions) to specify a physical event I agree completely that time is a coordinate for the location of an event in a space-time environment. That coordinate is completely dependent on spacial relationships and movement through space. If you were a time traveler you would need the coordinates that would take you to the event and those coordinates would be the three dimensions of space and the time coordinate. The time coordinate would simply be information about where exactly all the bodies in space are in relation to each other. (The sun, the earth, the solar system etc.) The "time" on the clock indicates this information, along with the date. JB |

In reality, time does not actually exist except as a coordinate within space-time environments which are a product of the universal mind. There is no thing or entity called "time" existing anywhere in "space." The concepts of matter energy, space and time (MEST) is only apparent within space-time which itself is a perception of mind. Tribo is correct in that if there was no one to perceive, there would be no need for time or space or matter. Everything begins with the observer. Reality is subjective. JB |
