Tough question, so many great bands.But I will reply with bands that
changed the status quo-
The Beatles- I personally am not a big fan ( great tunes & a deep
respect) they brought us rock music
Jimi Hendrix- The man, changed guitar playing & brought us psychadelic
music
Black Sabbath- spent many a hour in my room as a teenager jamming on my
guitar to these guys, brought us heavy metal
music also doom & gloom music
Van Halen- also changed the way guitarists played & brought us into the
hair band & spandex era
Nirvana- changed the idea of excess & debauchary, & brought us grunge
