Hypothetical question: Its not about me I recently told a girl how amazing I think she is. Now she can barely stand to look at me. She says that she doesn't need me to tell her how great she is, that she needs to find that out on her own. I feel like an idiot. What did I do wrong?

You did nothing wrong, she's the one that has the problem here, in terms of her self image.
