From what i can find, error 999 appears when you try to access more than once in a specific time frame. It could be as simple as a double click on your initial attempt to enter the rooms, and subsequent attempts within a preset limit. This is a tool Yahoo has installed to prevent scammers, and apparently covers chat, 360, messenger, and mail. The only other reason i can find for that error code is banned from chat. Give it a while and try again.
