she didn't want to let it go
although it was ready
dangling
by the tiniest of fleshy threads
she lost them before
never enjoyed it, even though
the rewards were great in the end
sitting down to a dinner with dad
her favorite, alfredo and chicken nuggets
and peas
watching that goofy movie for
the umpteenth time
then it happened.
scoop, bite, chew, swallow
oh! no!
tears come quickly and in multitudes
where there once was a baby tooth
is now a gap, and the tooth
went down with her last bite of noodles
"will it hurt me?"
"no, honey, you'll be fine"
the flow of tears slows, but then
eyes wide, and on the edge of a breakdown
"what about the tooth fairy?!?!"

Sweet

it's not meant to be sad. just the reaction of a 6 year old to her loose tooth not going as planned. she came up with the idea for the note at the end by herself.
