Topic: A Dilemma | |

Why, on this rock that we call a planet, do people insist on texting on a cell phone instead of talking?

I ask my son that daily!! Why don't you just pick up the phone and TALK!! I'd much rather hear the person's voice. JMO |

i am way addicted to texting. its very convenient actually. you can be having conversations with several people at a time... much like the internet... besides sometimes there might just be something that you want to let someone know but dont need to interrupt their family time, or work or whatever it is they might be doing...

I guess it depends on the situation, but I guess if they're in a public place, I'd rather they did text a quick message. I do know what you mean, though, but I do get tired of listening to everyone's conversations when I'm out and about and it seems that every loud, obnoxious person in a 10' radius of me is on their phones. Just my humble opinion.

Texting is a convenience gone haywire.
If I'm at the theatre, at work, or for a quick message. It does amaze me how people can have entire conversations with them. Text just can't beat all that we say and hear in tone, inflection, and the all around communication of talking to someone. Of course phone conversation isn't a match for good face to face, but that's another topic. |

Yeah, OK!
I can see a text message or 2 here and there....(I'm in a meeting; call me; I love you; see you at 8; etc). BUT DURN! Back and forth, "so what did you do today?" UMMM NO! I tested this theory with a "friend" of mine once...a text conversation for 25 minutes...finally, i asked her why she wouldn't call me after all this texting...it would have been easier....she stopped texting and decided she wouldn't be my "friend" anymore..... What gives? |
