He is still at the vet hospital. I was told that he was mopey and kinda just there; so I went to see him. I was shocked to find him in a state that looked like he was drugged. He wasn't. It scared me. Dr. Link said he had head trauma and his brain had swelled and he experienced something from the anesthesia. He said fronm the shock and trauma he was really worried about him Saturday, and that he is impressed by him at this time. He is a very strong little dog. So, anyway...I went to spend time with him to see if it would make him feel a little better and not feel as though I had abondoned him.
It took a few minutes for him to recognize me, and when he did he tried so hard to get up. It broke my heart. It was like he had no equalibrium, and he can't see right now out of his other eye. It is bruised and swollen from the other eye injury. I saw it. It is all around the back side of his eye. I held him for awhile and talked to him and he seemed to realize more and more who I am. Then I took him outside and put my hands underneath him and let him try and walk. After a while he was trying and succeding somewhat. He got better and better for a bit. Then he would tire. I would hold him and talk to him and we would try it again. Then he drank some water for me. The techs all said look he is already responding with more spirit. I stayed with him for about two and a half hours. He was trying to sleep in my arms and relax. It got to be closing time and I had to let them take him and give him another shot of antibiotic and feed him. He is eating and drinking. I felt sad to leave him but better in knowing he is in good hands. Dr. Link said he was worried about him making it through Saturday. He said "he has been through a lot, poor fella". He says with a little more rest and care he feels good about him making a full recovery. Gosh, I hope so. I pray he will be my same ole Chuy. By the way...he still looks great even without one of his eyes. Think me silly if you want too....but if you believe in prayer...please do so. I love you Chuy....I miss you terribly.
