Iv'e had these contacts when on other sites and one way that kills them
is to tell the girl I'd love to visit Russia. Then I ask her for financial assistance so I can get there. Needless the say they don't write again. Dam..no holiday for me it seems. |

The web is filled with the "love scams". The first wave of these
women with their own agenda started out in South Africa and Ghana. You'd receive a picture or two of a "drop dead gorgeous woman". Like bearandwhiskey mentioned, after the second or third email, they would profess their unyielding love for you. Their current family situation has depleted their savings, and asks you for financial assistance. Once into the U.S., I.N.S. will never hear from them again, but bet your farm, they will be a frequent visitor at your door. Yes, Russian women are hot. Hmmmm, let me think...........Moscow with a bad economy, or Ft. Lauderdale, playground to the wealthy........hmmmmm......NO BRAINER. Gee, how many of you have received an email (example) from Dr. Charles Mangodo, vice president of the South African Oil investment Bank? Sound familiar? I am a licensed private investigator, able to presently work in 22 states. I have affiliate investigators in the Ukraine, and in South Africa. All these stories (nightmares, actually), I've heard hundreds of times. The latest entry into the love scam, is China. Over half of these dating sites are breeding grounds for these scammers. My final thought is the Latin term: Caveat Emptor. |

I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one.
A year ago I had two different women contact me, one claiming to be from South Africa and the other from Russia. They did everything that has been described on this thread. They wanted me to give out my home address so they could ship boxes of their clothes to me. In return, I'd recieve $40,000 for helping out. They went into detail about how their fathers were the heads of oil companies and how urgent the situation was for them to get to America. |

I've never had one of those here, nyet, not a one. JSH, making the
world safe from deceitful Russian scammers! But, really, Mike, there are sites that I think are nothing BUT sneaky, crafty Russian women.... I wonder, if I lived in Russia, would I be getting scam schemes from deceitful American women....? Because there ARE deceitful American women out there. I was married, I should know.... |

That's it. I'm going to start haunting Russian dating sites, type in
stilted Russian and look for a rich woman to move me to Moscow. You like nice American men, yes? You like I should play on computer for you? Iz zat vat you vant, darlink? ;) |

I just got one of those emails here too in badly written English. From
the sounds of it, Russian in origin. On another site I used to get at least 4 a day from ladies who were supposedly born in the U.S. but are currently in Africa on "business" I wonder what business they are in? Oh and one other thing, to the guy with no cell phone, I reported you to the Cell Phone Police, expect a knock on the door momentarily should be a geeky looking guy saying "can you hear me now". |

The scammers are very easy to spot. Basically, if you're 40s and beyond,
and you get an email from a woman in her 20s who's basically "gorgeous beyond belief," chances are she (if, indeed it's even a she) is a scammer. |
