It is of my opnion that morals are taught. By the community, the majority and the parent. Then again they are inherit. A child very young can know the difference in his moms face when she is hurt or unhappy with a behavior. Thus knowing he she has done something undesirable without being told. Learning from an expression that all is not good, or is good. By watching, and taking in.

Ever watch a child try and take something that doesn't belong to them without being told it is wrong? Then get caught?

I think it is both. My entire family has a "deficiency" shall we say in the way they treat other people. If it is purely learned then I should have turned out the same. I somehow turned out to be a decent person despite the environment I was raised in. I care about others greatly, in fact more than myself most of the time. Maybe I overcompensated for the ugliness that I was raised in, but it definitely wasn't learned... Where did that come from??? I like to think it came from God. Where did my family's ugliness come from? Partly hidden mental illness I suspect, but that doesn't explain it all...

Morals, I believe are both learned and internal to us as human beings. You can learn the difference between right and wrong as a child. That's why the Bible says, train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.

They're also interior to us. God gives us a conscience to prompt us about what to do and what not to do. The Holy Spirit can use our conscious to prompt us.

At any rate, that's my two cents on it. Morals also come from legal codes and ethical codes of our businesses, churches, schools and our communities.

Some would say morality consists of if it feels good do it. But there is a way that seems right to a man that can lead to destruction, too. Our culture's permissiveness toward drug and alcohol use, "free" love and such can lead us astray and destroy the covenent relationship between man and God and the covenant relationship of marriage.

Morality can indeed lie at the heart of much of what we do or what we do not do.
