Okay, I just woke up from a weird dream that turned into a bad dream.
I think it might have started out as a dream about a former friend. But that was a small part and fading fast. Turned into a dream exploring some of my weird quirks I've had since early childhood and stories I made to explain them along the way. Then it turned into kind of a nightmare as the dream turned into some really weird hypnosis/therapy session that seemed to link these quirks and fears to some bizarre primordial memory of my own birth. By that point, the dream was so weird I took control and forced myself awake. I then lay in bed for a few minutes trying to force my mind away from it. Just like a nightmare. Once I realized I was reacting to it like a nightmare, I got up and came to the computer to share my weird dream. After all, the last thing in the dream was I'm being forced to remember being flushed down a tube while attached to these three cords. I feel like I'm drowning and I'm trying to climb back up the tube by climbing up the cords. It was a very yucky feeling. Anyway, anyone want to share some particularly weird dreams of their own? Or want to comment on mine? |

Actually, I'm kinda surprised to have such a convoluted and disturbing dream in the first hour I was asleep. Something that weird usually only happens after I've been asleep for about 9 hours.......

I usually don't remember that much detail about my dreams. I've tried writting them down as soon as I wake up from them...If I remember anything it's usually just the very end.

A few nights ago, I dreamed that I was with the girl of my dreams, and she was led away by these dark shadowy things, while I stood there and watched, helpless to intervene.
That one defintiely stayed with me for awhile. But one of my strangest dreams involved me standing upon a large, flat steel surface, like the hull of a ship. My most vivid recollection in the dream involved me suddenly finding myself before a deep circular pit, at least 10 or 20 feet deep. The pit was filled with water up until about seven feet from the rim. Looking into the pit, I noticed that a little piglet was swimming about in the chamber, which he was also chained to. I say swimming, but it was more like thrashing as the piggy flailed about in a fruitless effort to keep it's head above the water. Looking at the piglet, I could see a long hollow tube sticking out of its throat. Like a straw, but strangely unlike one. I knew that a bad man sitting in a nearby crane was responsible for the piggy's plight, and as I urged the creature on with my thoughts, I was shocked and appalled as the piglet began verbalizing it's squeals in piggy english. "Help me," it wailed in its eerie piggy voice. "I'm DROOOOWWNNNING!!!!!" The piggy's plea cut into my heart like a knife, but I could do nothing. I was transfixed in place by the impossibility of my situation. As I watched in horror, the piggy continued it's struggles. As it got more and more exhausted, I noticed how it's head would disappear for long seconds underneath the waves, and just as I became convinced that he had breathed his last, his head would break through in grim defiance of the waves. I watched this drama unfold for what seemed like hours, knowing that it was taking longer and longer for the piggy break its head out of the water. Finally the little piggy's struggles ceased. I saw his body become stiff and motionless as it bobbed up and down in the current. I knew the little piggy had breathed his last. The images were so powerful, I awoke from the nightmare with a sense of profound grief. Strangely, I felt as if I had lost my best friend. |

i've had a lot of weird and vivid dreams too. i thought i was really one of the few to have and i am glad to hear that you're having them too (although i am sorry that they're disturbing for you. )
I used to have a recurring dream when i was little that this huge meat cleaver was floating over me, chasing me and i had to run, otherwise it would fall and chop me in half. i would run and run and run and no matter how fast or how far i ran it would keep following me and i would get tired and it would eventually chop me in half. one of the cool dreams i have had was that i was a werewolf and i was running through the streets on all fours at midnight. the streets were empty and the wind was blowing through my fur and it smelled like vanilla. one of my recurring nightmares is Micheal Myers running after me and for some strange reason i am not usually scared or freaked out but rather fascinated like i am watching a movie. I also have a lot of flying dreams and in the latest one i flew over a huge tidal waves a followed it, it must have been five-hundred feet high, i watched it consumed everything and afterwards i stood on the peak of a high mountain. people have debated on the meaning of dreams for a long time, some think it's a portal to another world or dimension, some believe it represents your sub-conscious and others believe that it's just jumbled up thoughts and memories. there's also another theory that since we use only 2% potential of or brain our sub-conscious unlocks interal and external mysteries and our sleep. i believe it a combination of all of these. your dream might mean different things, i am curious do you ever have any resentment or questions about your quirks? does anybody close to you have concerns about them? if you're in doubt or questioning where they come from your subconscious might be telling you that you were born with them and that they are a strong part of you. your subconscious might be telling you that your quirks came from something that happened during the pregnancy or the birth or from your parents.do you feel restrained or uncomfortable with yourself or these quirks? what parts of the dream bothered you the most? you might want to go a library or bookstore and checkout a dream dictionary, freud and carl jung were two of the main psychologists that worked on dream interpretation. hope this helps. |

Of course you realize though that Freud was a quack. Although his ideas steered psychology in the right direction, his interpretation of other peoples' dreams tended to be taken from his own context.
For instance, one of Freud's common misinterpretations was that his patient had a secret attraction towards his own mother, when it was actually Freud who wanted to get funky with his mom... |

blaze i am sorry that you had a terrible dream like that. i had a dream kind of like that where it was my responsibility to save the world, the world was on my shoulders and i was supposed to keep running to some place. it was bit like lord of the rings (carrying the world was like carrying the ring was for frodo) it was such a terrible weight and i kept running on but that wasn't the hardest part. The hardest part was that along the way people kept coming up to me saying terrible things to me like "you mean nothing to us!" "nobody cares about you!" "you're no hero, you're a sack of *hit!" I kept running, even though they started spitting at me and the words hurt, i still cared about them, stilled cared about the world and i kept running "you deserve nothing, you are nothing!" "you're common, you're not special!" "if you die no one will be crying or missing you" i kept running, kept running, crying and gradually my muscles were on fire, started spazzing out and became numb. i kept running all of my force my thought was bent on it, my legs felt like clouds, clouds that would melt and everything i ever cared about would crumble into flames. i kept running for what seemed to be agonizing hours and i fell into darkness. then it seemed i awoke in a small hospital room, i was in a bed and a crowd of people and animals were around me. namely I saw my family, friends and loads of guinea pigs, rabbits and dogs were on the floor and the room had a dark tint of blue around it. for awhile there was a strong, uncomfortable silence and then they all spoke after another in echoes " "you have failed us lawrence" "you have failed us lawrence" " you have failed us all" " were all to die in agonizing ways and you did nothing to stop it! your efforts count for nothing!" Nothing!" nothing!" their bodies and faces then began to contort into hideous shapes and suddenly they caught on fire and all was ash.
I woke up soaked and crying and continued to cry for awhile and i kept saying to myself in mind and aloud " i am sorry i've failed you, i've failed you all" after awhile i stopped crying but sometimes i still feel sad about it. |

Most of the time, I don't find them that disturbing. I agree, most of the time, it is like watching a cool movie that I'm involved in. Kinda like a Virtual Reality thing. When I was little, I used to have a recurring dream of kitchen knives flying all around me and I'm sitting on a chair completely safe. Which is why Nightmare on Elm Street kinda freaked me. In my childhood dream, I'm wearing a long sleeved stripped shirt just like his. No, I don't really have any resentment over these quirks. But I sometimes find it ironic that the things people like about other people when they meet them can later turn into the very things they hate about a person. As for dream dictionaries, I don't agree with them. I think they are too much based on a single culture and don't take into account different cultural influence in the are one grows up in nor do they reflect life experience. I have a book on thematic dream interpitation and I've found that analyzing friends dreams based on my knowledge of who they are and how the think about thing works much better than those dictionaries. |

That is an interesting dream...I had one last night too...I was at Dairy Queen...just been hired...was waiting to start my first shift and I had to pee. The bathroom was full and I didn't have much time...so I squatted in a corner and peed. It wouldn't stop. Kept rolling further and further across the floor. Then I got busted!I was so embarrassed. They were just about to fire me and I woke up...guess i can go back in tonight

Seriously, I have a lot of dream imagery that could be described as "disturbing," but the only dreams that genuinely disturb me are the spider dreams.

I agree with you that the dream dictionary is a bit one sided and i am glad you founjd something better. what is the name of the book? I also had a dream where i was eaten by a spider, I was trapt in a sticky web in dark cave and this giant tarantula started walking towards me slowly, it tung me and started swallowing me whole and when it came to my shoulders i woke up. the funny-scary part was that it was winter time and i had a couple of thick blankets over my shoulder and it felt like 9i was still in the dream. i shook out of my bed like crazy |

Yeah, any spider dream is a bad dream. Those dreams get so creepy. Literally. I'll find the book as I'm unpacking.
