Topic: How can you get over shyness with new people

I am referring to meeting new people through friends or just in random situations when you meet someone. It has nothing to do with on here or anything besides personal interactions. Some tips to get over being shy.. just make one goal a day to do something you haven't done before. Like talking to some guy or girl you don't even know, it could be about the weather or the news anything really. Then before you know it you have a real winner, or not. Talk about some basketball or whatever your into, baseball even maybe music or pop. Just some ideas there, heck even videogames.. I don't know not one person that doesn't or has not played a video game at one time or another in there life. Hope that helps. Although I have a tough time meeting woman face to face, just never bother going to bars etc. I'm to scared or shy to walk up and start talking to them for some reason or another, for whatever the reason online much more easier, but at the same time it's still tough to find woman on or off line. Then again I guess that's just me.

Yes, real life as in like when you see someone in person or meet people through a friend or group. but of course ...refer to my answer...you can't shake hands online

Thanks Johncena, I've gotten better as time has gone by. I used to not be able to talk to strangers, but now I can. Sometimes I just get nervous when meeting/talking to new people. I'm taking a public speech class very soon, and I just fear I will do bad because I hate people focusing attention on me all at once. Over the past year I've spoken with quite a few people about random chit-chat, but someone told me I should do it a little more. I just am really quiet around new people.

Yes, real life as in like when you see someone in person or meet people through a friend or group. but of course ...refer to my answer...you can't shank hands online I was talking to someone else, but yes I like what you said. I have shaken more hands in the past year than ever before.

Yea, certainly not looking forward to it, but it's a requirement to get my degree. I get nervous when my math teacher right now asks me to put problems on the board because everyone is probably looking at me. It's funny because all my friends think I never shut up, but my one friend found out friday how quiet I am when people I don't know are around.

look dude/miss you don't "get over it" you proceed despite it....... that's what every one else does.....with time it seems a little easier because you realize your head didn't fall off....

How do you get over the inability to talk to new people in your life?? I know there's no surefire answer, but does anyone have any pointers. I f I'm just looking for answers I go to yahoo answers.

Well when I first came I cared. Now I don't and yes check my old posts I'll post a lot one day then never come by. I really don't log on to the computer too much anymore to be honest the summer for me is extra busy.
