First, in case anyone doesn’t know what a creed is, it is defined here. Posted is “The Apostles Creed”. Is this unequivocally your belief or do you take any exception to these words? Would you consider adding or deducting words? If so how you change this creed to fit your beliefs?

Etymology:
Middle English crede, from Old English crēda, from Latin credo (first word of the Apostles' and Nicene Creeds), from credere to believe, trust, entrust; akin to Old Irish cretid he believes, Sanskrit śrad-dadhāti
Date:
before 12th century
1: a brief authoritative formula of religious belief2: a set of fundamental beliefs; also : a guiding principle

Modern English Version
The Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. AMEN.

Hmm...

I believe in God...
creator of heaven and earth.

...and in life everlasting*.

*which I think may be reincarnation but I can't know for sure- as I have no memory of having died... it just makes sense to me.

1. God created all that is seen and unseen
Christians believe that God is the creator of all people, the world, the universe, and everything seen and unseen. This is based on various Bible passages, including the Bible's book of Genesis.

2. Jesus is the Son of God and is One with God
Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He is one with God, and that He was sent here for our salvation. In John 10:30 (English-NIV), the Apostle John quotes Jesus as saying, "I and the Father are one."

3. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary Christians believe that Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit of God and born through the Virgin Mary. As explained in Matthew 1:18 (English-NIV), "This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit."

4. Jesus suffered and was crucified
Jesus suffered for our sins and was crucified. As explained in Matthew 27:23-56 (English-NIV), Jesus was falsely accused of being an anti-government rebel. He was brought to Pontius Pilate to be crucified. He was mocked, beaten, taunted and crucified.

5. Jesus died and was buried
Jesus died after being crucified. He was buried in a tomb owned by a man named Joseph of Arimathea, who was a follower of Jesus. In Matthew 27:57-60 (English-NIV), the Bible says, "As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus' body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him. Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away."

6. Jesus rose again (the Resurrection)
Jesus was resurrected, which means that He died, but was brought back to life again. You can read more about the resurrection in the New Testament book of John, chapter 20. People who believe in Jesus will also be resurrected after they die, and brought into the kingdom of Heaven.

7. Jesus ascended into Heaven
Jesus ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father. This happened after Jesus was resurrected. We too will go to Heaven, but only through faith in Jesus Christ. As explained in Mark 16:19-20 (English-NIV): "After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it."

8. Jesus will return to judge the living and the dead
Jesus will return again to judge the living and the dead, and to establish a kingdom that will have no end. In Matthew 24:30-31 (English-NIV), Jesus is quoted as saying that He will return during the last days of man: "At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other."

9. People who repent their sins will be forgiven
People are "saved" and forgiven if they confess their sins and confess their belief in the resurrection of Jesus. As explained in Romans 10:9-10 (English-NIV), "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."

10. Anyone can have salvation
All people may receive salvation in the name of Jesus Christ. In Romans 10:12 (English-NIV), for example, it says: "For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile - the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him…"

John 3:16 (NIV):
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

I believe that atheist/agnostics spend most of their apparently miserable existence trying to cause discord among everyone else in the world so the entire world will be as miserable as them:tongue:

Obviously Feral can not have a religion without a book. Her Creed requires that the book exist and that it be the one and only source of her faith, apparently.

Interesting, but I'm not surprised.

Lots of writing Feral, can you memorize it all? I still remember both the Apostles and the Nicene Creed and I QUIT that stuff by the age of 11. My how they do drill it into you....

Yes well not knowing God's word is what got humanity in trouble in the first place.

BTW...it's better than the long winded rants of the pagans & unbelievers on these boards. laugh

Really? And are you under the misapprehension that atheists and aganostics are the same thing as well?

To me that's like saying that Christians and Satanists are the same thing- because they are both based on the same set of deities aren't they.

and the point of your post does not seem to be to create accord or fill others with joy either...

strange.

also, i am agnostic in that although I do believe in god, I am not so arrogant as to think my beliefs are the only possible answers to questions that NO ONE has incontravertable facts about...

La la la la- the happy agnostic

Why would I want to have my relationship with God....without the The Bible to me is the infallible, inspired, inherent Word of the Living God. I believe each and every word from Genesis to Revelation, cover to cover. It is the owners manual for human being-a must read. And awwww redy have you not learned anything about me since we have been doing this. Because if you had you would know I believe what I do from being shown by God.....not just because of the Bible....the Bible is a tool I use. All the answers are there imo for all to see.....

And is not a gig of memorizing it or not. Of course I know alot about the Bible...who wouldn't if they read it every day. It is an honor to read it, learn it, study it. And believe me I have studied many many many religions and Bibles.

actually i see the oppisite making the world so miserable. Deception and using the word for justification is not very high up thier in the bible. those who may not believe and speak thier mind are the exact company Yahshua prefered to be with.. I wonder why? Shalom...Miles
