its necessasary because they think of us as infidels. Thats not gonna change by talking with them. They will hate us until we are all dead. They would kill our childeren and make us watch. They are the enemy whether the liberal/commies want to accept it or not. They hate us now and still will 1000 years from now.
we might as well take the fight to them rather than wait for another 9/11. Note how there has been no attacks on us since then? asked and answered. |

Admit it . . excuse you? how can you make such an assumption about someone you have never met..... comerade. if you havent been there your opinion is based on ignorance, since the media is NEVER GONNA TELL it like it is. These people hate us and everything we stand for. thats just a cold hard fact. |

Actually the military currently is losing benefits and personal gain from service, though I do believe they have recieved more pay for their service. The war is necessary now because of what we did, now we should fix it (or at least make it better off then it was). The troops have done a great deal of good for the country regardless of whether we should or should not of, they have had a democratic election, they have a number of schools and I believe one college, also if I'm not mistaken they have a deal into the stock market...no it is not all candy and mint there, may never be but it is a lot better there than it was. |

Educators at the tree-lined, garden-sprinkled campus on the banks of the Tigris River are upbeat that 2007-2008 will restore the university's reputation for excellence that it has enjoyed since it was established 50 years ago.
"We could say the situation is about as normal as is possible, given the circumstances," said a 24-year-old lecturer in soil science, who despite his bubbling optimism would give his name only as Salah and declined to be photographed. "Last year was the worst ever -- sometimes no one would turn up for lectures for an entire week. On average we had eight to 10 students out of around 20 arriving for laboratory. This year it is around 15. Sometimes we even get a full class of 20," said Salah, sporting a striped orange shirt and slicked-back hair. Suaidi however had no enrolment figures for the new academic year and instead offered a prospectus which showed that there were 57,500 students and 5,300 lecturers at Baghdad University in 2005 -- before the violence spun out of control, taking students, lecturers and staff members with it over the abyss. The lack of professors -- either killed or fled overseas -- is affecting education at the campus, he believes. "In the past there were seven professors in our faculty. Three of them have since been killed. Now there are only four -- two of whom are not of sufficient experience to be able to lecture masters students. Which leaves just two." So, You see Iraq has had a University, which for 50 yrs. was world class, but since the war it has taken a beating. (Actually Iraq had 4 Univ before the war.) Sure it maybe getting back to Normal now. (Normal being?????? maybe before the war???) To say that we have created a better environment for learning by invading Iraq is just wrong. What we did was disturb Education by our invading that will take yrs to just get back to normal. |

To be sure, Iraq's hospitals were in bleak shape before the American-led invasion last year. International isolation and the sanctions imposed after Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in 1990 had already shattered a public health care system that was once the jewel of the Middle East. Crucial machines stopped working. Drugs were in short supply.
Before 1990 and the imposition of sanctions, Iraq had one of the highest standards of living in the Middle East. It was a highly urbanized society, dependent on a large service economy, with high standards of healthcare very widely available, and a complex infrastructure typical of a modern society. In 1990 about 71% of the 18.9 million population lived in cities, 80% of the labour force worked in the service sector, with only 12.5% in agriculture and 7.8% in industry. 97% of urban-dwellers and 70% rural-dwellers had access to health facilities, according to United Nations Development Programme criteria. The World Health Organisation in Baghdad reports that before the Gulf War, 93% of the population had access to a free, modern, high quality health care system. Today that system is barely functioning. http://www.salaam.co.uk/themeofthemonth/january02_index.php?l=4 I find it Disgusting that people can say we have improved life in Iraq! |

These people hate us and everything we stand for. thats just a cold hard fact. No they dont. It is their govt who are winding them up to hate. The normal people are not interested in the conflict. I am in the Middle East now, and they are not interested in the US, they want peace. They want to get on with their lives and grow healthy children. They are inquisitive and knowledgeable. The West (I mean the west, not just the US) wants its oil and the opportunities to make money from the devastation that the West, itself causes. Fanta and I do not agree on hardly anything, but this is also one thing I concur with. The West should stop playing both sides against the middle, leave the Israelis and the Arabs to sort out their own problems. It has nothing to do with us. The area's politicians are much more skilled at diplomacy than the west. They have been at it a lot longer. |
