refinary issue is an environmental thing

and a people thing

no one wants it in their area

-----------

and when i said check refinery cost i was referring to the price of refining when it was a higher percentage of the money made compared to the amount of the refining cost of today

sorry i did not explain it further so you would understand what i meant i thought it was a simple thing to understand

after all i quoted the comparison i just wanted the cost of production compared as well

If it's so hard to build new refineries, then how come South Dakota is doing it?

excerpt from your article

-------

Opposition Unbowed

Opponents of the plan vow to do anything possible to stop the plant from becoming reality. The “not in my back yard” crowd cites health issues from pollution and other troubles the refinery would bring to their neighborhoods.

While the zoning issue is a big step, the company now has to submit a series of applications to local, state and federal agencies before construction an begin.

Opponents say they have strategies that will slow or delay the permit processes.

Hyperion says it plans to break ground in 2010.

Thanks for the link Hiker. I hadn't rd about that.

They need the jobs there. The economic impact outweighs the environmental lobby and, therefore, it has a shot at becoming reality.

Infrastructure is expensive but, if you're desparate, it'll get done. This is quite a way off from becoming reality though. We're about 20 years late on making the move but the economy has been too good for us over the years to get motivated.

This stuff is like healthcare. No one wants to pay for it but everyone demands benefits.
